Fisher Tweet On Takk McKinley

You like Bowser at 28?
It all depends. I don't think he is out of the discussion depending on who is there.

Comparing him to McKinley, if it comes down to availability. I think about it if Bowser is an alternative.

I prefer Watt significantly. But that is personal opinion. I just don't come away after watching McKinley and think he is necessarily a level better than any of them.

My wonder is if he is really expected to not be ready until week 6 or 7, if he could drop to 60

Funny I've got him going to the Packers in my mock @ 2/61. ;)

Just don't see it in this guy. Would be a huge Shante Carver like reach.

This team needs pass rush help now, not next year. The odds of getting significant numbers from a rookie are bad enough without the guy missing all of the offseason programs and likely a part of the regular season. The Cowboys don't have the luxury of waiting a year for McKinley, even if he were that good.

Hey, we don't have the "luxury" of waiting a year on these draft picks. We're Veruca Salt in the war room.

No because unlike with fans, NFL GMs aren't idiots. Missing a month or 2 of year 1 of your career is practically irrelevant to a team builder. Joe Fan worries about that. He wants to *******ize the draft and simply treat it like it's veteran free agency. Who can help us OMGrightnow? Let's draft him then. Paying no attention to talent and big picture.

The primary value of draft picks is during their rookie contracts. Afterwards they cost as much to re-sign as it costs to sign another team's free agent (QBs are the exception because good ones won't make it to FA).

Missing a month is not a huge deal but missing a year would significantly reduce a draft pick's value.

Yeah, it's good to make draft decisions on first year impact.
It is about first year impact. If this were a prime pass rusher, we would not be having this conversation. If the prospects are close, it is a no brainer to take the one who can play now.

Hey look folks. This is RS saying McKinley is a special player.

Point and laugh.

No, this is me telling you you're clueless if you think a team should change their stance on a prospect because he might miss 6 games the first year. That's completely asinine.

Its so funny how people can watch the same players and see such different things. I am not a big college football watcher, but i think most of us watch draftbreakdown vids. Itd be fun to watch a video simultaneously and discuss. For example with takk...i think he showed more against Utah than some players show in all their tape. People rip Taks hips, sure hes not a cb, but multiple times in that film he flipped around from between the hash marks and proceeded to chase people down in backfield flats. He played the wholeeee season with a torn labrum, still dominated. Thats toughness. Sign me up.

You can "wait" for a great player, and somebody you could never get otherwise - like Sean Lee or Jaylon Smith - in the second round. McKinley is not that. Unless you want to make the case otherwise?

How about the entire offseason program leading up to those "6 games"? That doesn't seem to factor in to your "equation".
