Ask yourself WHY would his current team be ridding him?

Well that's actually simple. Money. He's hitting their books too hard and won't restructure.

However, and this is why I don't understand why people think Arizona will even remotely go for it, he'd CRUSH their cap in penalties for moving him. This is just not a deal that has even the most remote shot of happening.

I believe according to Fitzgerald contract, he met certain incentives in the 2007 season that made his salary $14.5 million in 2008 and 17.3 million in 2009 plus the obvisous prorated bonus when he first signed his contract.

The way I understand it, if Arizona traded him then they would only be responsible for his prorated bonus, same goes for a trade.

Any team that does try and trade for him will only do so if he agrees to a new contract. No team is going to have him on the books for a salary of $14.5 million which would be at least 8 percent of the total cap for a single player. Not even Dallas.

Arizona might ask for the Moon for him but realistically, they aren't going to get even close. He will be a financial obligation to the new team as well as what they have to give up to get him. It will drive down the price of what Arizona takes. And on top of that, the closer we get to free agency, the more desparate Arizona will get in making a trade.

Personally, I would give our 2nd round, Bobby Carpenter and Marcus Spears and call it even. In fact that might be to much right there. I would offer it and say there it is, it goes down after that.

Some blogs have New England and Philadelphia offering there 1st round picks, 2nd round picks and more to get him. I think that is a bunch of BS, based on how those two teams usually do business.

As to Arizona saying he wasn't going anywhere, it is the same thing all teams say at one time or another and it usually holds no water. Just a marketing and contract ploy most of the time.

Guess we will see over the next 10 days.

If those figures are correct Fitz has so much bargaining power it is not funny. Not only is he in unbelievable position if he stays, he is also in an unbelievable position in the next team he goes to because like many have said no team is going to take him on at his current salary.

In essense, he is in a better position than a FA with the money he has scheduled coming to him.

I did...and the answer is because they are the Cardinals.

Jay Novacek and Leonard David come to mind.

I like the idea but the one thing you have to remember here is that whatever you sign Fitz to you better be ready to give that to TO also, if not a bit more.

I would offer them a first and third this year and a second next year. In 2 more years he may be the most dominate WR in the game.

I can't imagine how much we'd have to throw the ball to make it worth having Fitzgerald added to this team.

Owens and Witten were both thrown 141 passes last season. Crayton was thrown 81. Fitzgerald was thrown 167. We can only throw the ball so much.

Just a random thought. I'd be all for bringing him here. But when we think of receiving options, remember how many balls are already going strictly to Owens and Witten. Would Fitzgerald be satisfied with being the 2nd or even 3rd option until Owens retires?

*Blinks*

Why in the world would you give up 3 picks for one guy? Randy Moss only garnered a 4, and I know part of that was off field and questions, but even with that there is no way someone is giving away 3 picks for 1 player at WR.
