Wow, $10 K for nearly breaking a guy's neck.

I guarantee you that if that was a Dallas player that did that, he would be suspended.:(

And Chad Johnson was fined like 20K for trying to give a ref a dollar. This isn't rocket science.

Anyone who has a problem with these fines is being hard headed.

I don't have a problem with the fines per se. I have a problem with how out of whack they are from each other. Now if stokley would have intentionally threw a forearm to the head of the official, then 25G would be appropriate. But when you look at the two incidents, knowing one was blatantly intentional (Fletcher) and one was in all likelihood and accident, it preposterous.

I'd like to see every third fine collected by the NFL given back to the fan for all our support. They can give it back by allowing free tickets for some "fan challenge" or whatever, but I don't see anything wrong with the player giving back to the fan sometimes.

Not all the time, but every now and then.

I think all fines go to charity

I can't help but giggle to myself while imagining that scenario. Am I a bad person? :laugh2:

$25k for a forearm to a ref's head? That would not be appropriate - being suspended for eight games without pay would be.

I seriously doubt that Fletcher was intentionally trying to hit Crayton the way he did. I've never heard of Fletcher being a dirty player.

Stokely however, went way above and beyond complaining. He ran like 25 yards to that official, chewed his as and then swiped at him.

There's a set schedule of minimum amounts for fines.

A flagrant personal foul (first offense) is a minimum fine of $10,000. That's what Fletcher got.

Physical contact with an official is $25,000. That's what Stokley got.

A verbal or other non-physical offense against an official is $20,000. That's what Ochocinco got.

Everything else, from uniform violations to fighting to taunting, has its own predetermined amount, as well. A second offense has a higher minimum. Some have possible suspensions attached. The league CAN fine a player more than the minimum, but they usually don't for a first offense.

I think that was the point I was making. Stokley's act wasn't anywhere near as potentially dangerous as fletcher's and it sure didn't look intentional.

Didn't know that. Thought it was completely random and at the commissioners discretion. With that said, they need to seriously look at that structure because it's stupid.

Perhaps another snub for the Pro-Bowl was his punishment.

J/K

That hit was viscous and I am surprised Crayton did not receive a concussion. He was shaking his head to get the cob webs out right after.

If Bradie James would have done that he would of been ejected.

Bradie James would have been suspended and received a public caning for a shot like that - I guarantee it.

Stokley didn't want any of this

I don't think it was Fletchers fault that Crayton was being tackled from behind. that's what made it look so vicious. if Crayton wasn't being tackled he probably would have hit him in the chest.

Whatever, you turncoat. The opposition tries to take our guy's head off and you say "so what". That isn't good enough, anymore. I want the league to punish Fletcher and if the league won't do it, we need to do it ourselves the next game. No more "Mr. Nice Guy" from us. I don't care if we pay a fine or a short suspension - we need to let the league know if they don't take care of this stuff than we will.

Normally, Wade Phillips complains about these things, but he's got more important stuff on his plate right now. I'm just really glad that Crayton seems okay after that. It was vicious and intentional.

I'm happy that Crayton is okay.

Wade doesn't have anything more important to deal with than this. Our family was attacked - this is a big deal. No more turning the other cheek - we need to make a big deal about this until we get a response from the league. Let the league know if they won't protect our players, than we will. It is unacceptable to me and it should be unacceptable for all of Cowboys Nation.

No way they were letting this one go. Should have been $50K.

Good, 10K is better than nothing. I agree that it should have been of the $50K variety. A shot like that could put a guy in a wheelchair the rest of his life which is a multi-million dollar type of offense in the eyes of the court.

Okay, I can calm down a bit. The league did reprimand Fletcher. I do think we should be appealing the cost of the fine.

Just for the record this pic isn't what it looks like. The Rams player ran in to the ref and that pic is the aftermath. The ref didn't throw a punch. :laugh2:

just think about it. he hit him in the head while he was being taken down from behind. if he wasn't being taken down from behind he probably would've hit him in the chest.
