what's up, berg? i was gonna post this a few hours ago but had to run out. but anyways for the people who are hell bent on not getting dmac and getting a corner in the 1st round, i just figured i'd might list a few that are successful who have been drafted after round 1. obviously we can't let mcfadden go at a high cost cause he will be off the board.

mcfadden is good value - if you're there.

mcfadden would be good value if we had 2 young promising cb's, not 2 in their later stages. if we had 2 young WR's, not 2 old farts and one w/chronic knee problems. with what we need his price is just oo high.

how far ahead do you plan? do you replace newman after he leaves or before?

did you replace aikman as a last ditch effort, or did you know ahead of time "it was time"?

i'm not saying dmac is a bad player when i say i don't want him. im saying our choices are better spent on balance, not glitz.

mcfadden will do well in oakland or wherever he falls i hope. got nothing against the guy. but he's not the only RB who can help this team.

but he is the one who's cost outweighs our own need.

everybody on this board would love to have dmac just not at the cost. i totally understand that. here's a few reasons why i want mcfadden. these reasons are not to be picked apart. it would be nice if you read my reasons and just say "ok that's why this kid wants mcfadden so bad" and just let it be. we'll see what happens though.#1i think he is going to be special. #2every time we won the big game we had a great rb(thomas,dorsett,smith).#3 i like barber but don't think he's great.#4 even with another rb i think barber is going to get hurt running like a mad man. #5he gives us a big play threat on the ground and with a team sneaking a safety in the box would help give us more big plays through the air. just a few reasons so take them for what they are and nothing more.......please:D . ok now on to my draft scenario. we trade both #1s and a player or a 3rd round pick(no more than 4 picks total and not giving up our 2nd round pick) to either oakland,kc,nyj for mcfadden. 2nd round pick BAM! cornerback best available. 3rd pick was traded for dmac. 4th round we go either cb again, left guard, or safety(pending on jerry's plans with roy and the hammer. 5th round if we didn't go corner in the 4th we go corner again. if we did go corner i'd say go safety. 6th round maybe 1 is traded for dmac so the other i will go either left guard or try and get a mammoth dt. 7th round i really don't care. than next year sign roy williams the wr. i think detroit will really try to keep him 1 more year to help calvin. ok so that's it, i'm tired probably goint to sleep now.

the trouble with me is you make your scenarios fit getting mcfadden.

not benefitting the cowboys.

i do see a difference that gets frustrating at times. yes. we can fix 2-3 holes right now with value. not gamble on hope.

we're too close to give into the dark side. : )

damn right!:D incase you haven't noticed i'm a little partial to the guy.

that's part of the draft no matter who you're gambling on. for all you,me,jerry, or anybody else knows anybody could be a bust. we could do it my way and dmac and the cb from the 2nd round could be busts. or we could do it your way and the cb at #22 and rb or whatever you would want at #28 could be busts. we have 3 big needs #3 or #4 cb even if/when we get pacman(though i don't think pacman will be as bad as eveybody might think) wr and rb. we get mcfadden were good at rb atleast for this year. hopefully pacman grows up and one of the corners drafted turns out pretty good early on. i really don't see us addressing wr till next season. i think were gonna have to deal with crayton/glenn for 1 more year at #2 wr.

oh, i've noticed. : ) but i respect your views just the same.

mcfadden is the bomb in *this* draft.

do me one favor please - who were the bombs in the last 10 drafts? how did they pan out?

you're willing to sacrafice to get mcfadden. i won't sacrafice direction for any gamble.

i'll trade for the best WR i can with 1 #1, i'll take the best CB i can with the other and i'll hope pacman really wants to play more than...play.

but i won't give up 3 opportunities for 1. that's the cost of mcfadden.

we're not in a position where he makes sense. what we lose to get him will hurt us, to me, as a team more than help.

if mcfadden runs for 200 more yards than felix jones and gets 3 more td's - is he worth the difference witten can make up on a good game?

no.

not to me.

the trick isn't to have the best single player but the best team.

One thing I noticed... and I really didn't particularly care to read through the whole thread considering what's being said is...

You can find value in any round of the draft. There are so many good to excellent players in the draft. Round isn't necessarily indicative of talent, but you can only draft 32 players in each round. At this point, really it's just a risk-to-reward question.

There have been so many great players as of late being taken in later rounds and so many "can't miss" guys that are all busts.

I just say don't let the "grade" be a judge of talent.

As for McFadden, I'd love for him to be here and trash the Eagles, Giants, Commanders for 180 a game.
