Flooded RB market may help us keep Murray

Im gonna get flamed, but I think AD is going to be the most cost effective way of maintaining our ground dominance in terms of both money and potential draft pics

He will cost about half what we would have to pay Murray, would sign for fewer years because of his age and would keep up from spending a day 1 or 2 pick

I think that's a real possibility. He wants to come here too.

That could be.

If you look at his contract versus his production, I don't see any way Philly keeps him, especially with so much talent available.

Hopefully what we see is a mass restructuring league wide on rb value, that allows us to keep Murray at about 4-6 million per year.

It's gonna be tough. I was thinking the team will be forced to choose between signing guys like Durant and Carter over signing Murray. There are quite a few guys we could bring back by NOT signing a RB to a big contract. I think it is a fallacy that only Murray can dominate. The budget of the thing has to be kept in mind.

The team that signs Murray will regret it.

Wont happen if we go deep into the playoffs on the strength of our running game

Its a copy cat league

I guarantee you they offer him more.

Teams don't over pay for running backs anymore, and I wouldn't offer Murray a long term deal either, haven't we seen the dead money left behind from doing that in the past, Barber and Ratliff etc....Is Murray a great running back or a product of a developing great offensive line...I'm in the camp of a developing great offensive line because I've never seen a back that runs into the back ends of his own offensive linemen as much as Murray does.....I'd offer 4 years 16 million, if he wants more, time to go find another back..

You mean like they did this year with Seattle winning last season?

Nah.

The running game itself doesn't start with the running back and most teams recognize that.

In addition you can go back the last few seasons and see that many of the top rushing teams in the NFL had QB's that weren't very good and the teams didn't get far.

Dunbar and Murray are on the block. Williams is on the PS and Randall, whom I like, is on the active roster under contract. And there is always the draft where your money goes further.

Lynch is under contract next year.

However, his cap hit is so huge he might get cut. My guess is he is cut.

Not sure AP will be in play here.

I don't know about a NFL RB in his 8th year with what will likely be some salary demands of import.

2 thoughts on this:

1. No way should we sign Murray to a big long term contract , let the market set the price and see if we want to match

2. If AP is available, there is no say jerry not get his grubby little hands on him. If AP is available and we don't sign him I will really start to believe that the worm had turned

McCoy can come play here. I don't see him going anywhere. How do you replace that...remotely?

Snyder has Alfred Morris, not sure he is looking to shell out for a running back.

McCoy is also a guy who will likely be cut.

I hear it is also a pretty deep RB draft.

I think we can maybe get him cheaper, with a lot of teams looking around the league and seeing that paying running backs doesn't lead to success.

deep RB draft might save our chestnuts

Ed Werder has been covering the Seahawks this year.. coincidence? No?

Where is CowboyChris?

UFAs

DeMarco Murray
Mark Ingram
Darren McFadden
Frank Gore
Ryan Mathews
Knowshon Moreno
Ahmad Bradshaw
Stevan Ridley
Jacquizz Rodgers
Justin Forsett
Shane Vereen
Jonathan Dwyer
Daniel Thomas
Chris Ogbonnaya
Joe McKnight
Kendall Hunter

I believe that murray will make 5 million a year if not from the cowboys then someone else. I have a feeling since we have not signed dez yet to a contract we may have to use our franschise tag on him instead of murray. the rest of the guys on the list are just good rotation running backs. there are only about ten running backs in nfl who are considered in my opinion everydown players. gore is the only great runner on that list and he is past his prime. mattews is good but now worth big money.

Murray will go for 2000 if he can stay heathy he won't be cheap regardless of who else is on the Marked. Might actually be cheaper to get AP cause of his tainted image
