Isn't it ironic in the Taylor Smith thread yesterday I had to calm everyone down and say hey I've seen both these kids play and I thought they did pretty well this year in spot duty and everyone said Brock Hoffman was trash and they rather have a doga and I said I don't know what you've been watching and here we are now giving props to these guys.. Do I need to go back and bookmark my responses pregame not having to backtrack and now give them props..It's very impressive what the front office has done with the back up oline with Brock Hoffman and Bass.
I wouldn't be concerned they're going to be brought in every game they're going to be on the sidelines ready but think about this Zach Martin and Tyler Smith got a full game off of rest that's gotta go a long way and it's a home game they're going to have the crowd and the energy I think what was different is the last couple of weeks since the Miami game,I'm concerned that our running game looks better with backup guards in the lineup
No Johnathan Allen was probably the bigger reason but I was surprised as wellI'm concerned that our running game looks better with backup guards in the lineup
Yes,Looks and sounds great. But I prefer to have our starting 5 in there come Sunday against GB.
It looked better because the competition was crap.I'm concerned that our running game looks better with backup guards in the lineup
It wasn't all crap first of all daron Payne or whatever his name is is a top inside defensive tackle in the league yes they weren't the best defensive line we're gonna face but to the backups credit they blow away the backups on the other side and also payne.. They also played well when there were three backups in Arizona 178 yards on the ground one of our best productions all year so it does give you some hope that the backups can hold their own at the very least... There aren't going to be many games where we're going to have to have more than one substitution in a game and in that case I think we'll be fine even in the playoffs even against better competition. They all have to start somewhere I remember when all this nonsense about Terrence Steele was an undrafted free agent and no one had confidence in him and he got better every year this year with standing coming back from a major injury he will get better next year....It looked better because the competition was crap.
As soon as they play a real team this thread can be universally laughed at.
it is easier to get guards then it is tackles so no real surpriseOur backup Guards are better than our backup OT's.
Our starting guards are better than our starting offensive tackles in most cases especially at right tackle.. Think about it we just have better guards than we do tackles... I mean before the foot injury Tyler Smith playing at a Pro Bowl level along with Zach Martin definitely better than steel and an aging off injured tyron..Our backup Guards are better than our backup OT's.
'I had to calm people down'Isn't it ironic in the Taylor Smith thread yesterday I had to calm everyone down and say hey I've seen both these kids play and I thought they did pretty well this year in spot duty and everyone said Brock Hoffman was trash and they rather have a doga and I said I don't know what you've been watching and here we are now giving props to these guys.. We had three backup offensive lineman in Arizona had our best run production game of season that game.. Last night very similar it's very odd that with the backups we seem to run the ball better I don't know if it's an attitude a scheme play calling change but I don't know what it is the starting five have not seem to be that consistent in the run game but these backups seem to be more fresh younger better in the run game then they are the pass game but they held up fine yesterday...
Use Hunter and rico more, more 2 man backfields, use the FB much more , keep tp fresh. In my opinion this should be the new playoff blueprint for the run game...
no I'm pointing out the fact that pregame I was pointing out that we need to relax because I had confidence in these guys so yeah I keep receipts there are a lot of people in there that were absolutely out of control go look at the Tyler Smith thread then after that I won't be replying to you anymore but I just wanted to keep it real I get tired of the just out of control exaggerations and the overreactions before a game and then everyone coming in and acting like they have to apologize and backtrack it's ridiculous... So yeah I have a right to come back and keep receipts when people are telling me I don't know what I'm talking about and they're glad I'm not a coach yeah that was one dude maybe that was you but I literally was trying to steady the ship people were literally thinking we were gonna lose to Washington because we were missing our two guards it literally they started changing their predictions etc'I had to calm people down'
wow what an ego to think you matter that much
It is a valid concern. Tony Pollard ran for 70 yards in each game versus Washington. Using 70 yards as a baseline, Washington allowed opposing rushers to gain or exceed that mark 11 times--just as many times as the Colts, Broncos, Packers and only eclipsed by the Giants, Panthers (12 each) and Cardinals (14).I'm concerned that our running game looks better with backup guards in the lineup
Keep on laughing as we pile up win after win.It looked better because the competition was crap.

Had a little to do with Washington playing multiple backups I'm sure. I mean, Hoffman wasn't even worth keeping on the 53 at the start of the season. I don't think he's advanced to the point where he looks like a capable replacement for Martin, which he did yesterday. It was just a backup going against other backups and winning. The only legit DL the Commanders had out there was Daron Payne. Now, we want our backups to be better than other teams' backups, but that's really all we should take out of this. Hoffman is Cory Proctor at best.I'm concerned that our running game looks better with backup guards in the lineup
