Next season will be interesting as well:

2023 Cap Hits

Dak $49M
Zeke $16.7M
Gallup $14M
Tyron $17.6M
Zack $19.8M
DLaw $26M

6 guys= $143.1M

Release and renegotiated contracts are of course possible but Dallas has to start preparing for guys like Diggs and Parsons to get new contracts (Schultz is probably gone).
Zeke could definitely be gone next year. DLaw could be next.

Zeke is gone for sure so that saves us about what 6 million? If I am Jerry, Tyron is gone as well.

Not exactly but that was the jest of it. That he needed to do more with less. Jethro just won’t shut the hell up.

Moron goes out and pays all these skill position guys then goes light on the Oline.

Every year he has one major screwup that ruins the season for us.

Yep

This is the same guy who said we didn’t need as good of OL with Romo’s mobility. Lol

Which of course shortened his career. I wouldn’t be surprised a similar fate for Dak.

Its incredible how bad Jerry is at his job. These are Dak's prime years and he is blowing it. The guy is coming off two injury plagued seasons and he wants to FEATURE Zeke. So what does he do? Goes light on the Oline? The average, casual fan could do a better job than Jerry.

NO, Dlaw they just got to resign and take a pay cut. Zeke and Tyron are next.

Correct. Zeke and Tyron could be released/traded after this season but Dlaw, with his extension, is stuck in Dallas through the 2023 season.

Yep

Here’s the quote I was referring to about Dak needing to carry team in so many words. He just can’t shut up.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones during a salary cap conversation on @1053thefan: “The teams that pay the big ticket on the quarterback have to sacrifice other places.” Cowboys want 40m/year Dak Prescott to elevate those around him.

I do agree this season feels different. They never like to spend money on free agents, but this year they are being extra stubborn about filling the holes in their roster. It almost feels like they are satisfied with a losing season in 2022.

Maybe they are looking for an excuses to make big moves next year. Maybe a losing season gives them the justification to dump McCarthy and hire Sean Peyton. Or maybe a losing season justifies cutting Zeke. Maybe they want to renegotiate Dak's deal next year. I don't know what it is, but the issues facing Dallas have faced them since they dumped players in the offseason and did not make a serious attempt to find adequate replacements.

They aren't smart enough to pull any of that. Jerry thinks they are playoff bound and Stephen thinks he is a cap master or something and that is about as deep as it gets.

And that’s really all these idiots need to hype and promote their product . They have enough stars to con the casual fans to buying in.

Remember their priority ; interesting and relative.

Its the ONLY explanation. There is no way they can expect to seriously compete for anything of significance with the way they are handling this team.

Why pay a QB 40 million if you arent going to protect him? Why pay a RB 15 million if you cant block for him?
Do you remember the years of Ryan Leaf, Clint Stoerner, Chad Hutchinson? Be careful what you wish for...

Rebuilding and tanking are two different things.

THIS is where MM is failing. If he agrees with Jerry or cant convince him he is making some big mistakes, then its on him.

Me dear Roy, there might be nuance between tanking and rebuilding; they are similar but diff. One, tanking, is usually for the draft. Rebuilding has nobler intentions but the same good draft pick.

Damn this Strawberry Fields hybrid is good...

I don't think Dallas has ever had a rebuilding year under Jerry Jones. They might have had some down years but I have never seen them go into full rebuild. One could argue Jimmy's first year was a rebuild but I think the change in ownership largely negates that.

You forgot the 3 years of 5-11 Campo ….

Jerry has multiple 3-4 rounders on oline. He has 3 1st rounders on the oline including one this past draft.

It seems their tune has changed. They expect the $40 million QB and the $15 million TB to make everyone else around them better.

I don't think they have a plan.
