You really think this team is going to start the season depleted on the Oline and not do anything to patch it up? Jason Peters is signing tomorrow. He will be starting at Left Tackle. The Cowboys also recently signed Dakoda Shepley and put him on their practice squad. They have him list as an O-Tackle which shows what their intention is to get him prepared to play. We know why...because of the lack of depth at both Tackle positions. That's not including rookie Tyler Smith being prepared to play as well in case he is needed. They will be ok.

Are you happy with the way they handled the Oline?

Signing Peters definitely helps, but no matter how you slice it, they handled the Oline situation poorly. A starting caliber OT should have been signed long ago. At this rate Peters may not be ready for the first game and someone else could have signed him right out from under us.

We are never rebuilding, nor ever good enough to win it all.
That is the secret sauce ! lol
That is what the cowboys are every year except years where romo or dak couldnt play most of a year.
They also dont tank , when they should, like when romo broke collarbone, or dak broke his leg, perfect time to shoot for # overall pick , but
instead they try to win games lol.

It is the jones boys roy !! lol

Jerry think tyron will be back in time for playoffs, and will be like new! And the team is good enough to make playoffs without him.
Jerry also thinks tyron has 2-3 more years left as a top tackle, so why get another one now?
After others got in his ear, they decided to make a play for peters, cause he is cheap, and that is still in the air, but that is why
they were slow to act. jerry didnt think they needed to get another tackle cause they still have tyron, and tyler can fill in till he gets healthy.

Yep, Jerry is a chump. No business being a GM.

They were good last year and will be good this year and next year.

Good, but not good enough. And lets be honest here................really the ONLY reason Cowboys have been good the last 15 years is because jerry hit the loto twice finding Romo as an UDFA and then Dak in the 4th round.

Lamb, Diggs, Parsons. 3 pro bowlers right there. Incredible picks and these guys are now carrying us moving forward.

It's no use discussing things with him, there is no middle ground unfortunately

Its the ONLY explanation. There is no way they can expect to seriously compete for anything of significance with the way they are handling this team.

Why pay a QB 40 million if you arent going to protect him? Why pay a RB 15 million if you cant block for him?
Yea, that’s what it appears to be but Jethro would never admit to as such.

Instead he’s hyping for much more success. Even saying our 40 million QB needs to carry the team more .

And why wearing the owners and GM hat has always been a conflict of interest.

We’ll know what their expectations are if we do come up short of expectations like making playoffs , etc and heads roll in coaching.

80 year old men don't typically decide to flush a year. Jerry mentioned playoffs while announcing Tyron's injury, and he believes it.
Regardless whether he believes it it or not, he’s promoting and hyping it as such.

I’ve found Jethro to be honest almost to a fault. He probably does believe it.

It’s a conflict of interest wearing both hats.

Owners should be promoters , eternal optimist hyping their brand.

Not GM’s who need to plan for worse case scenarios and not show their hand. It’s doesn’t set up our football operations for success.

Next season will be interesting as well:

2023 Cap Hits

Dak $49M
Zeke $16.7M
Gallup $14M
Tyron $17.6M
Zack $19.8M
DLaw $26M

6 guys= $143.1M

Release and renegotiated contracts are of course possible but Dallas has to start preparing for guys like Diggs and Parsons to get new contracts (Schultz is probably gone).

This dysfunctional tactic has been effective for Jethro promoting his brand and hyping each season.

It draws fans in and they get excited raising their expectations for the season which translates to revenue .

If it doesn’t meet expectations then he goes into damage control looking for scapegoats.

That’s because there is no long term plan . Each season is a publicity stunt on its own. We’ll worry about next year , next year.

When your job isn’t at risk with any direct accountability except to appease to the fans this is the result. His basic job is to continue hyping and promoting his brand. And as long as most bite. The vicious cycle continues.

Did Jones really say Dak needs to carry the team? That wasnt his quote.
