Its the ONLY explanation. There is no way they can expect to seriously compete for anything of significance with the way they are handling this team.

Why pay a QB 40 million if you arent going to protect him? Why pay a RB 15 million if you cant block for him?
I think the entire league is lacking talent. Anybody still has a chance

If and when Prescott goes down for the year, that's when I "quit."

Like him or not, we have NO shot whatsoever without him.

The worse the OL is, the greater the chances that happens. Someone may want to repeat that for Jerry.

But hey, draft only to improve leaves you with a handful of dudes that aren't ready to play. That's what's going on here....there's no shortage of warm bodies, they just aren't any good....as of yet.

-High draft pick
-Get the young guys as much reps as possible
-Justify a MM firing so he can sign Payton
-We move on from Zeke

Its a plan B, booby prize outcome.

The Oline is in a rebuild. The defense is in a rebuild. The WR corps is in a rebuild. And next year the RB position will be in a rebuild.

other teams like KC can rebuild the Oline in one offseason. LOL

Jerry it is going to take 4 years if he is lucky.
And have the coaching staff to execute. We have neither

The Cowboys played for 20 seasons, went to 5 Super Bowls and 9 conference championship games before their Left Tackle received a pro Bowl selection.

Their best offensive tackle, HOFer Rayfield Wright, played Right Tackle.

It's not the end of the world. They will put somebody out there and give him help when he needs it. There are 21 other starting positions if you don't include the kicking game. Those 21 guys will have something to say about how this season turns out. Some of them are pretty good.

Rebuilding for what? Do you think these idiots even know what a super bowl winning roster looks like? The family just make it up as they go.

I agree. I can't figure out why they are staying put at T. Either they are going to play Smith, McGovern, BDZ, Martin, Steele or they're going Ball, Smith, Bdz, Martin and Steele. Either way it's risky. If they go with Ball as day 1 starter then we're having a rookie at LG and a guy that's basically a rookie at LT. Dak is going to get killed and Zeke won't be effective. I admit we can't buy a FA that's an all pro to play LT but we can get someone with at least NFL game experience and better than Ball.

The only thing I can think of is they want to know exactly what they have in Ball and Smith going into next season and they're "hoping" it works out this season. Or they're going to play put this season and hope for the best and continue purging the team of bad contracts. I'm not too optimistic.

One very wise poster stated in another thread that "good organizations don't rely on hope". That's one of the wisest statements I've read on this forum.

Someone said a while ago that they felt the FO may be sabotaging McCarthy and Dak to bring in Payton. Believe me I love a good conspiracy, especially with the Cowboys, but a week ago I would have laughed at that. Right now I'm not so sure. They are doing Dak dirty here and I can't figure out why after they invested so much into him.

If Jerry is doing this so that he can get a high draft pick, get the young kids the reps, and getting MM fired so that he can get Sean Payton then I would be all for that. But he just isnt that smart.
I'm not sure it's about Sean Payton I think it's about Quinn. I think Quinn has really impressed Jerry and the only way he can get him indefinitely it's to promote him as an interim coach and then hand him the job if we finish strong. Bypass the whole interview process.

You’d think that was the case. But we certainly haven’t heard any indications this is the case from our front office or coaching staff.

We’ll know if this year comes up short at the end missing the playoffs and no heads roll that this was indeed a rebuilding season.

This was essentially a 500 team last year without Tyron Smith. And with the Eagles improving and a tougher schedule, its not looking good.

If Dak is smart, he'd request a trade. He's going to end up getting hurt because the Jones boys first priority is making money and trying to 'win their way'.

Jumping ship on what exactly? What kind of potential do you think this team has without Smith and a bottom 3rd Oline?

I had them making the playoffs with an outside shot to win a game or two when they get there if a bunch of things went right.

Now I have doubts they can even make the playoffs.
One of the best tackles in all of pro football and it makes a massive difference in how an offense functions, the pressure percentage goes up nearly 5 percent when Tyron is not on the field, the sack percentage nearly doubles, the yard per attempt for the RB from 5 a carry to 4 per carry just from losing Tyron Smith.
Dont think for a second that I do not realize the significance of Tyrons loss and how that translates to this offense.

Winning SB's is the best marketing advantage you could ever have. Jerry want to win it all, he just doesnt know how.

i blame the quarter billion dollar yacht and way too much Johnnie Walker blue...($250 liter )

Rebuilding and tanking are two different things.

THIS is where MM is failing. If he agrees with Jerry or cant convince him he is making some big mistakes, then its on him.

C-Roy----come on man you know MM is more a puppet than "grinder"....not as bad as red ball though

Rebuilding is something that could’ve been in motion for awhile now but instead Jerry thinks he has a shot every year. That delusional “win now” mentality Jerry peddles every year is definitely part of the problem!

Jerry doesn’t like the r word!
