they traded for A-Roid cause Texas couldn't pay his joke of a salary anymore. every other team doesn't have the money the yankees have. let's look at the playoffs.

Twins payroll: 67 million

Angels payroll: 119 million

Phillies payroll: 111 million

Yankees payroll: 208 million

baseball needs a salary cap(a real one)

salary caps are stupid!
do you want a salary cap on your job?
I did not think so

You can roam the world and mention the Cowboys period and folks will know who you're talking about. They weren't talking about specific players, they were talking about the brand of the franchise. The Cowboys are as well known around the world as any sports franchise.. Stop kiddin yourself.. You sound foolish..

I can somewhat confirm this... I am from an Asian country, moved to Dallas in 2000 and been a Cowboys fan since 2003. The only teams I'd heard of back home were the Cowboys, Yankees and Lakers. Even though I'd heard of Michael Jordan, never heard of the Chicago Bulls until I got here.

Without getting into any football discussion, because this thread is not about football but a comparision, comparing the Yankees storied tradition to the Cowboys is absurd.

I am not trying to ruffle feathers, there are just very few teams in any sport that should be held in the same regard as the Yankees when discussing American sports and tradition. Most football teams can not, and the Cowboys certainly can not, considering they are relatively new to the NFL.

The Cowboys are worth MORE than the Yankees, and are more popular world wide.

You're incredibly naive if you don't think a ton of baseball players from every team do steroids. Every team has them, and every team has had them. It certainly isn't exclusively the Yankees.

It's cute that you keep calling my a Yankees fan when I'm not. It doesn't hide the fact that your point sucks. You're a Red Sox fan who is complaining about money. bbgun just posted numbers, and the Red Sox's payroll was well over double the Rockies in 2007. So yeah, keep whining about money. The Red Sox are the 2nd worst team with it.

Dec. 13th, the San Diego Chargers visit Texas Stadium. The Chargers are expected to be playing for the AFC West and will play the game with urgency. With Phillip Rivers at quarterback and the trio of towers at receiver (Antonio Gates 6'4", Vincent Jackson 6'5", and Malcolm Floyd 6'5") the passing attack will be a tough one for Dallas' defense to contain.

We'll get some idea this weekend about San Diego when they play the Eagles. If the Eagles can contain the trio of towers, then Dallas should have no trouble.

These fans kill me, with all the crying of how a team spends money to "buy" a championship, lol. First off, what player is playing for free? What team doesn't pay their players? Don't blame a team for actually spending money, as opposed to pocketing the luxury tax thay are given by teams that have the money. Most owners are either billionaires or close to it. How can you not run a team with that kind of money? Becasue they choose not to, that's why. Put a good product out there and fans will come. What happened to the Marlins? They won a WS and then the owner dumped the team. Where are they now?
Do you cry because a millionaire goes out and buys a $500,000 car, while you drive what you have? Is he then supposed to buy only what you can? There are no rules on how he spends his money, and no rules on how a MLB owner spends his.

Another idiotic point of buying a championship is, if that's the case and supposedly works, why haven't they won every year? Point? Because it doesn't mean S*IT!!!! Teams have won without a huge payroll. It's just a reason for a fan to cry because their team didn't win. If you want to cry to anyone, cry to MLB. Cry to the other owners. Don't cry to the owner who isn't doing anything wrong or cheating. If anything, it's only because of poor scouting/drafting or key injuries. Maybe the Red Sox didn't pay out as much to their players, but they certainly "bought" their win, if you want to go that route...you know, with all those home grown players like Manny, Papi, Schilling, Millar, Damon, Arroyo, Pedro....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Your steroid comments are a joke, at best. Most of the Yanks that took them, weren't even on the team when they took them. As stated earlier, a lot of players in the league are or were on them, they just weren't leaked yet. When the Red Sox won, players were on them at THAT TIME of winning the WS. You're only fooling yourself if you think other Red Sox weren't on them as well...(see Nomar). As far as A-Rod goes, yes he did them and came out about it while in TEXAS, unlike Red Sox players. Petite came out and said it, while in HOUSTON. A-Rod, most of any player, didn't need to do it. He has a natural talent and only hurt his career for nothing.

By the way, if it wasn't apparent enough, I am a Yankees/ Cowboys fan. Born and bred in NY, I grew up watching the Mets an Yankees on TV and became a Cowboys fan because the first game I watched was on Thanksgiving, with my cousins, uncle and father. The game that was on happened to be the Cowboys and I just went with them. I was 11 and didn't know a thing about it, as far as rules go, so there wasn't any jumping on the band wagon. I could have easily been a fan of Chicago or Detroit or any of the other teams that played that day.

Enjoy your "Bandwagon Nation" fan club though, because I never saw so many Red Sox caps and shirts before in my life. Oh, that's right, I should say until the finally got past the Yankees and then all of a sudden, Red Sox fans came spilling out of the closet. Even long time Red Sox fans that I met, made that point. Sox fans should thank the Yankees, btw, because if the Yankees didn't keep winning all those years, the Sox owner wouldn't have spent so much and tried so hard in putting together a team to beat them.

oh yeah, getting on subject, the Cowboys are definitely up there with the Yankees, but not that close ;)

What drugs are you on? I think 50 years in the NFL is enough to make a comparison.

Uhh anyone who is comparing the Yankees is the Cowboys is like comparing Baseball to Football, oh wait you are.

Football 4:15 and 1:00 games pull a wider audience than prime time World Series games, stop kidding yourselves, more people care and know about the Cowboys than the Yankees.

If a Cowboys 4:15 game outpulls the yankees World Series in primetime, which team is more popular? The Cowboys, because if the Cowboys were in the Super Bowl this year it'll break every record on TV and more than likely exceed 125m viewers.

But teams like the Pirates, Royals, Reds and The Nationals will never be able to compete under the curent system. It will be the same 5 or 6 teams every year and the people in the smaller market teams will loose interest in baseball. I do not know how that can help MLB in the long run.

Sorry, there is no way any team is more widley known than the Yanks. I don't care about TV ratings. I can guarantee you, half the TV audience aren't watching a game at 12:00 in the morning, World Series or not. Ratings do not mean anything, as far as fan base or how much of a TV show/game is being watched.

Yankee Stadium is known as the "Coliseum" of stadiums. Lambeau Field can't even say that. More championships than any other sports team, will get you that honor. But, I'm happy to know my other favorite team is right up there. Not that it matters, they're my team popular or not. I'd almost rather them be under the radar.

By good drafting, scouting and owners spending the money that is given to them, by the marketable teams. You don't have to spend a ton of money to win, that's been proven. Owners that show they are willing to put together a good team, will keep players, in spite of huge contracts. It's being done now. Twins have players that could go, but they show that they are heading in the right direction, so they are foregoing a huge payday and staying put. Teams like the Royals aren't showing that kind of loyalty to their players. Is it tougher, sure. Owners did this to themselves by willing to shell out the big bucks, players did it to themselves by heading off to other teams and fans did it to themselves by willing to pay for it all. How many players do you see stay with the team that drafted them? I see a cap coming, in MLB, but not too soon.
These teams may never be the marketable team that the top teams are, but that doesn't mean they can't win a WS.

disgusting comparison

1st it's the New York buy everybodies good players and free agents

2nd A-Roid is a cheater and had been choking his whole career up until this season(for like 15 years)

3rd Romo is only in his 3rd season

4th Jerry atleast tries. George just throws his money at the best players.

#5 I hate the Yankees
strange that ARod had to get off the roids to quit choking.

Well, yeah, of course. As big as the new Cowboys stadium is, it'll take time to have the lore as the last one as well. Texas stadium was unique in it's own right.
