Fools Gold

No doubt about three things:

1. We beat the iggles. However and whenever we do it, it's a good thing. Even the last game last year, yeah it pushed us down in the draft a bit, but so what, iggles LOST, and at home to boot.

2. 7 pt win, but iggles could have easily won, still hard for me to believe they didn't give the iggles that fourth down throw, the ball was clearly bobbled, but since when has making the right call mattered when it's the Cowboys that could be ruled against?

3. Have to take these type of wins with a few grains of salt. After beating the Jags, it was like "hey, this team is showing signs of life!". But the Jags are now 3-6, pretty clear that win isn't as big as it seemed at the time. I think probably this one will turn out the same, Dallas really didn't move the ball well until the iggles were down to backup secondary people, won't have that luxury with the Saints, probably not with the Falcons either. The iggles were only 4-4 before this, they aren't as good a team as last year, they're still pretty good, but it's not like the Cowboys beat a full strength team.

Love the win, but I can't get my hopes up for division titles or playoffs just yet...
I honestly think we’ll win the division but will get a rude wake up call in the playoffs.

I also don’t understand why everyone is making such a big deal if we beat the Falcons. The Falcons have a pretty good offense but they aren’t a good team overall and have a losing record. Hell, Cleveland just whooped them and they only beat the lowly Giants by 3. I wouldn’t be surprised if we beat them by 14-17 points, minimum.

Here’s my take.
What if we beat the saints?
How would you feel after that?

It mean we are capable of beating anyone yet will be sitting at home watching the playoffs again because we are too inconsistent due to having a mediocre HC, QB and no GM. But since we could finish near .500 Jerry will have reason to keep both so we can watch this play out over and over again.

I’m right there with you. What will be really sickening is, as of now, there is only one team left on our schedule with a winning record and although it will be nice to win the majority of our games it will only secure JG’s job and Dak’s. I’m starting to think we may have had the easiest schedule in the NFL.

I'm with you on this... For us to have the easiest schedule (if not, one of the easiest), there is no reason for us to be 8-8. I'm not saying we should be 16-2, or 15-1, or 14-2, or even 13-3. Heck, I would even settle with 10-6 or 9-7 only because it gets us over the Jason Garrett average win/loss record (8-8)... No winning coach would be happy with a .500 record. No GM should be happy with a .500 however both of them are...

Oh, and Sua Filo is a better guard than Williams right now. A guy the Texans didnt want.

In the Classic Jason Garrett form, when his job in on the line, he pulls off a win to avoid going over the proverbial cliff and Cowboys fans are once again left with the fools gold.

The nice win over the hated Eagles, Dak Prescott offers Dallas fans some of Garrett's fools gold ( aka: .500 level) that lifts the franchise from 3-6 to 4-5 with the Falcons on their plate. We ALL recall the debacle the Cowboys displayed the last time in HOT-lanta with the collapse of the Chaz Green trying to play the role of Tyron Smith @ LT.

So here the franchise sits one win below the Garrett's .500 level and we have numerous "Ya but......."

Dak Prescott threw for 270 yrds and NO Turnovers.....Ya but________________ does Dallas fans feel any better that #4 can really be the franchise QB the franchise needs?

Dallas notches their 1st road win of the season, Ya but_______________ can Dallas actually win 2 straight games, especially on the road?

Dallas defeated the Eagles, Ya but ______________ the Cowboys dominated the 1st half and should have won the game easily.

Garrett pulled together a BIG win to get the critics off his back, Ya but ____________ Cowboys fans have scene this act for close to a decade.

Sure Cowboys fans can add many to this "Ya but" so I'll leave at this: Always love beating divisional rivals ESPECIALLY the Hated Eagles IN THEIR NEST. Ya but doesn't change the fact that the franchise needs to need head coach and a GM that is too filled with EGO that he can't get out of the way to see HE is a BIG problem why the Cowboys will not see a Superbowl again UNTIL Jerry meets Al Davis

Lol...you salty bro...lol

What difference does it make? The pick is gone regardless of what it is. Better the Raiders get a high pick than the Giants, no?

Yup, and it's only 1 pick, Raiders are like Dallas, need more than 1 more good draft pick to be really good...

I think we will end up 10-6, other than the Saints, we just don’t really have any good teams left on our schedule.

And I myself won't be taken for a fool.

I've seen this movie too many times under this management and head coach.

Until proven otherwise my expectations are tempered.

This.

No, two. Saints are 8-1, Commanders are 6-3
Ahhhh...forgot about the Skins, thanks for the correction. Hopefully we’ll beat a team with a winning record by the end of the season, I think the Skins will be that team.

NFL team success is a fragile thing in the era of free agency. If you have an elite QB then your team can overcome a few injuries and under-performing players,,, but if your QB is one of the sub-par players then you have no chance and every injury and every weak position is magnified 10x. The last couple of years the team has focused on rebuilding the defense and it has succeeded. The few years prior to that it focused on upgrading it's OL and overall offensive performance and it largely succeeded,,, they had no control over the OL injuries this season and they did in fact draft a promising o-lineman this year. They fished around for a guard and some depth in an OL depleted FA market but still ended up losing their starting center and left guard before the season began. The decision to forego having a true #1 WR with a struggling QB was a bad one but not a decision that was likely made by coach Garrett. Honestly, the hostility towards Garrett is misplaced IMO, he's a decent head coach with only partial control over the team. Overall the team is progressing, but until the QB position is successfully manned, either by Dak or somebody else, this team will struggle and will be deeply affected by injuries. Not Garrett's fault IMO.

Huh? What difference does draft position make?

Um, a lot actually.

Looking ahead, what is a realistic final win-loss record for the Cowboys?

Well let's be optimistic, shall we?

4-5 now. 7 games left.

Atlanta. Win, they've got problems won't catch the Saints for the division unless the Saints lose Brees, and he's very durable, not likely. Have two good running backs, good receiver, good line, good coach. 4 game lead with 7 to play. So, Atlanta may lose intensity (though they're playing the DALLAS COWBOYS. You know what that means if you're a long term Cowboys fan, 'nuff said.)
Commanders. Win, Dallas at home, 'skins o-line depleted. Alex Smith famous for late season swoons, as well as Reid.
Saints. Loss, Saints playing very well and I suspect Payton is still ticked at not getting the Dallas job.
Eagles. Loss. Beating a division rival twice is difficult if you're not that good. To expect Dallas to pull out wins in both games is unrealistic, imho.
Colts. Win. Luck doesn't run much, mobile quarterbacks are Dallas problem, and Colts running game isn't that good.
Bucs. Win. Bucs playing for draft picks, especially a quarterback, can't see a max effort.
Giants. Win. Ditto as for the Bucs, plus they're just not that good.

Gets us to, guess what? 8-8. Seen this before, that will be good enough for JJ to extend Garrett and Prescott.

Sorry "Garrett has to go, Dak has to be replaced" fans, ain't happening.

Of course this is all my opinion, the NFL is a funny (and maybe rigged) league, is screwy sometimes.

And even if by some chance Dallas gets in the playoffs, think they're beating the likes of the Saints, Rams or Panthers?

YA but... clapper sent his offense out with over a minute to play, backed up 9 yards in 3 plays and handed the ball right back to philly with 53 seconds and a short field..were just lucky Wentz and that team are so beat up and struggling, had this been Arron Rodgers..... BOOM game winning TD< and a go for 2 to win and Dallas lose's by 1. Clapper is a joke, ya but, he always will be a soft, coddling fool and a wussbag when it comes to stepping on a teams neck then grinding his boot heel. Ya but, I'm betting the little wussy still has his wife dress him for work. Not dragging us in the mire, but it was my hope we got the snot beat out of us and Clapper was at least closer to being dumped in the bag of has been's and wanna be head coaches.... now were stuck with his butt for another wait and see from JJ..

We shouldn't have run plays that could have resulted in losses, no doubt, but playing conservative and forcing Philly to use it's timeouts was the right way to go. The only play I had a problem with was the pass. If that somehow fell incomplete the clock would have stopped without Philly having to use a TO.

Raiders can get that high pick with their own pick, not ours.
