He disappeared often in 2008. He really only had one good game. His skills are eroding.

You know, it's a shame TO only played in two games for us.

he coulda been something special.

you sure that was an owens highlight reel? romo's passes were dead on.
Romo wasn't the only QB throwing to him in that video though. He was the only guy catching.

Romo is a great QB. His quick release is a weapon for this team.

Bledsoe was quite the deep ball thrower. Hell, he was pretty accurate on all throws up until his last season here when he seemed to lose something.

There was at least one throw from Bledsoe in there. I only saw one, but could have been more that I didn't see.

Didn't notice. Thanks. I assume it was when he threw a downfield block.

Nice highlights.

What's so glaring to me however is the lack of 'tough catches' in those highlights. I saw maybe two that can be characterized as such.

Owens does not make tough catches. He lacks ball skills and never looked very coordinated to me. Jumping to meet the ball at the highest point was never a skill he demonstrated.

He was just a tremendous athlete playing WR. As fast, quick and strong as anybody I've ever seen play WR. That's why he was great.

Williams is a very different player.

What the video won't show you is all the turnovers and incompletions on passes forced to Owens, who wasn't always running the correct route.

I read a good point regarding Romo in a fantasy football mag the other day... passing to T.O. in 2008, for the most part, was so ineffecient that we really won't miss much without him in '09.

We might have less big plays, but we'll have a bigger commitment to the run game and a more efficient Romo in return.

Romo said something interesting recently. He spoke about keeping turnovers down in '09, and he said one way he's planning on doing that is to stop trying to make up for the mistakes of others... which usually ends up compounding the mistake. Perhaps the "mistakes" he's referring to are incorrect routes/decisions by WRs.

Why I even spent this little bit of time doing this? I don't know.

Against Washington last year when we threw him the ball 20+ times and he had 7 catches and a TD, then complained in the post game about wanting more catches.

Or against Pittsburgh when he got completely erased, scored on a fluke TD, then screamed and yelled on the sideline. Heaven forbid your QB be banged up, your offensive line falling apart, and a 5th round pick starting against the best defense in football. Its all about him, all the time.

Against Buffalo in 07 when we scored and went for 2 to tie the game, we threw a fade to Owens and he dropped it. He also dropped another critical pass on the drive that set up the score.

Those are just a few off the top of my head.

He's 0-2 in playoff games here, with 6 catches and 75 yards in 2 games. Get off your knees and wake up. Granted he made some big plays and had some impressive performances. But. Any relatively intelligent football fan knows that his production has diminished drastically and he has been the farthest thing from consistent since defenses figured him out.

You can't point out two games and throw out the other guy's argument.

He pretty much disappeared all of 2008-2009.

That was going to be my point exactly. You could easily call the first one a Romo highlight reel. Contrast that one with the second one where Fitz is having to fight for every ball from Warner with the exception of a few throws.

That's not to take anything away from Owens, although I've always despised him. It just jumped out at me at how accurate almost all of those passes were.

When it comes to TO, spectacular plays don't tell the whole story. But I'm glad Jerry didn't see this vid before cutting him loose. He might've weakened.:
