What really happened to TO? age?Shawn Springs? He was not getting open last year second half of the season at all.Romo throws to the open guy we know that and forced afew to TO. He just seemed to never get open like the "JAM" at the line stopped him.

I *love* the way TO plays on the field. He'd be one of my favorite WRs ever if it weren't for his toxic personality and over-the-top egotism.

TO was pretty good for us and chances are he is going to be pretty good for the Bills. I hope Roy steps it up else we will look pretty foolish getting rid of TO because we caved to the media. :)

Fitz can't be clutch when it matters most without Warner making those passes when they matter most and the Oline giving Warner time to make those passes when they matter most that let Fitz be clutch when it matters most.

Why I even spent this little bit of time doing this? I don't know.

Images clipped...

Comparing a season where we went 13-3 and #1 seed in the playoffs to 9-7 and missing the playoffs and implicitly blaming that on one player is kind of silly.

Common sense tells me that there were more problems on the team than TO. In fact, he may be partly to blame for a lack of production, but the considerable drop off in one year tells me that others were more to blame. I just don't buy such a significant drop off in one year is due to himself alone.

Best reason for hope in 2009.

Because it isn't due to himself alone. At this point last year he was the "second best WR in the league". His skills have not declined THAT much. It's obvious that there are many reasons that TO was released. But I hope that reason was one of the least influential.

Our whole offense declined in 2008. Witten's numbers were down. Romo's numbers were down. Barber's numbers were down. Heck, he actually had less yardage and TDs with 34 more carries, and the 3.7ypc is ugly. Why wouldn't TO's numbers decline as well? Why would he be immune? It was a bad year for our offense and they can't all be "too old". The finger needs to be pointed at our offensive coordinator for that. You know, the same guy who thought it'd be a great idea to give our most potent offensive weapon a whopping 0 touches in the first Washington game last year. The same guy who also thought that this potent weapon only warranted two receptions on the season...

I am going to miss the 1000 yards and 10+ TDs..... along with the constant defense attention he got as well as the game breaking plays he was capable.

I won't miss his commentary (too much), the constant talk about Owens, the dumb drops and the lazy routes he sometimes took.

Our WR core is weaker without Owens, no doubt.

Hopefully the running game can compensate for that. And I think with Bennett, we'll have another nice weapon to offset that.

It boggles my mind that there are still posters who feel this way.

Probably a good thing that wasn't what I was doing.

Just pointing out the games where he "disappeared".

Most of 'em too. 4 good/great games, 3 mediocre, and 9 craptakular.

Nah, obviously he didn't lose something.

Looking forward to the Roy Wi11iams era in no small way this year. In no small way.

Agreed. I look at the stats and see a WR who's skill set was fading drastically for a #1 option. Other say, well he pulled double coverages and occassionally broke a big play. Yeah, ALL #1's are supposed to do that, but when they're putting up less than 40 yards a game for half the season that's nothing short of horrendous.

If TO played for Philly last season, he would've had at least 1200 yards and 12 td's, even with his "declining skills". The reason would be that Andy Reid is brilliant when it comes to creating schemes to get a guy open. This is where our Offensive Coordinator let us down last year. A simple scheme that some of our players even hinted at was figured out by the league last year. I hope he's adjusted this off-season.

The other problem last year was that ESPN was able to drive a wedge in between our team by relentlessly reporting on TO and Romo. While the team was winning it wasn't a problem, but as the Cowboys lost some games the wedge grew deeper and deeper. This wore on TO, Romo, and the rest of the team. I HATE Ed Werder. Don't think they won't blow the Roy Williams / Romo relationship out of proportion this year. Get ready.

that's all well and good but an "elite" player shouldn't need to be schemed into being effective.

Highlights are misleading.

Fitz made all his plays when it mattered most. Owens tended to disapear in those situations and then blame everyone else.

Where is the proof that Fitz made all his plays when it mattered most? The Super Bowl? If that is the case, then you do realize that Fitz was doubled the whole game and did absolutely nothing. The only time he actually scored was when he got single-coverage. For example, the slant TD was one-one-one coverage, with no help over the top.

And further, to use Fitzgerald as an example to dis-prove TOs abilities has nothing to do with perspective. So what if Larry is a better WR now, if one even wants to argue it. That is like comparing rubies to emeralds, as if only one lacks value, when in fact both have value.

You can have either WR right now.

Owens or Fitzgerald?

Who would you take?

If you say Owens I will break my ribs laughing.
