You’re not worth million, you are not a target they are and they stick out like sore thumbs. The league talks to these guys when they enter the league of the importance of who and where you hang out but many do not listen. These guys have careers and millions at stake and to piss it away over something so stupid as hanging out at strip clubs at all hour of the morning well they get what they deserve for being so stupid to put themselves in those situations. The avg Joe does not have as much at stake as these guys do and all too often when I turn on the TV or read the paper it is the same old same old, this guy is busted at a bar at 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning it is not an accident that these things happen. The NFL knows this and the coaches know this and that is why they warn them.

Oh, they should be told of the risks, and told how to act smartly if they decide to go out. Where I have the problem is telling them they can't do it at all without huge consequences that will make them even more of a target.

2 weeks ago i planned a fishing trip at the shore with my brother and a friend. the 3 of us get down there fri night, my brother is already a little tanked. our frined wants to go "look at some ladies", but no one wants to drink and drive - so i suggested a bar that has a bus that picks you up and will drive you back to place you are staying.

at last call, around 1:30, someone starts yelling i'm hitting on his girlfriend, the bartender. i was like dude, no one is after your girl, why dont you grow up. she said it happens every night, i told her, why put up with his nonsesne ???

so my brother and i walk outside and a crowd of people waitingg for the bus and one of them starts screaming, there he is, there he is. so they start calling us out, my brother is not much of a fighter, he tried to be the peace maker and i notice we are getting surrounded so i tell him you better get ready cause its going down. so the bouncers who it truns out were friends of these guys wont do anything, he starts yelling at me "no ones fighting, you shut up" and im telling him here they come. anyway he gets bullrushed and i grebbed the guy who knocked him down and next thing 4-5 guys are grabbing me and punching me while the bouncers are holding my brother back.

i have some training in martial arts so it could have been worse, but i spent the night in ER with doctor popping my dislocated finger back into place. anyway, it was over very fast, i dont know what happened but all i got was a dislocated finger on left hand and my finger on the other hand is broken at the end where the last knuckle is. probably one of the guys grabbed my hand and intentionally snapped my finger while i was wrestling with some of the others. i didnt even realize till the fight was over. my brother hurt his back when he was tackled, seeing the doctor today.

the point is, we just wanted to take our friend to a bar that has a live band and has a bus ride home so no one would drink and drive, and there really was no way to walk away from this situation.

im thinking about a law suit against the bar, dont know how that will go because when the police showed up i reported that we were attacked by some guys but couldnt give a description and they didnt ask too many questions, plus i was more concerned about getting to the hospital.

The league tells them the pit falls the league does not make them stay out of these places. It is not all about how the player acts people target these guys and you put a few drinks in any guy and add some conflict and things get out of hand quickly. Both guys may get busted but the player pays the big price and that is not worth it. Sorry I think these guys need to do some growing up but it is their choice.

I love bill I really do

those few seconds of Parcells speaking is much more entertaining than anything I've heard from coach Wade. Just like with Belichick in New England, let's hope that lack of personality equals a Super Bowl.

As guys in their position, there are ways to protect themselves. One thing is true, too many people take your point of view and just say, "they can't go". But there aren't enough people out there that advise them on how to go out if they do go out, cause they will, just a fact of life.

the point is you should be able to go to a club and not have to worry about getting attacked. maybe some of these places need beefed up security.

My point of view is just my opinion and it is based on being young and running the streets and having trouble find me and that is not too hard to do. The NFL opinion is off of years of experiance of seeing the down fall of their players so they take a vested interest in warning these guys of what be careful of. In the end it is the players choice but even guys like Chris Carter has talked to players based on his own experiance. You either listen to experiance or you go find out for yourself. When I was in my teens and 20's I took the same stance you do today but I learned and did so the hard way.

some dude from britain was on vacation at margate 2 weeks ago, a drunk got bounced from the bar, so being upset he apparently stabbed the first person that came out of the bar, it was this british guy and he was killed. maybe there is more to the storry, possibly they had words in the bar and that is what led to the first dude getting bounced, but this is kind of rediculous.

Well, these guys are mostly in their teens and 20s also, so in some way they will have to learn for themselves. But there are ways to go out where trouble doesn't find you as easily. Of course the stance of coaches and the NFL should be just to stay at home, but thats just not reality.

These young guys are going out, teach them how to go.

Yea, prob true, but most places can't afford it, or just down right don't wanna pay for it.

I've always relegated myself to the belief, that when it comes to bars, or any establishment that makes at minimum 60-70% of their income off of liquor sales, especially ones I'm unfamiliar with, odds are pretty good that 1 out every 10 times you visit one, you're going to run into a situation you'd rather of avoided. No mater what kind of security they have.

No one is saying stay at home but there is a difference when you start talking hanging out some place at 2:00 or so in the morning. Your taking it as if I'm saying they should lock themselves up and never go out and I'm not but you can leave these places at a more respectable time and be careful about the joints you are hanging out in. I did not live a sheltered life I know because I been there and done that I never listened to those who were older I thought they did not know what they were talking about I was wrong they did know. Once I change who I was with and where I was going and stop running the street by some miracle many of my problems vanished. With these guys you add to it because people know who they are and they know these guys got the money. In the end it is up to them to either grow up or continue to put themselves in these situations.

Don't stop believing.

I'm glad Parcells is gone. I'd have hated to have to cut Tony Romo.

The bold is one of my points, if you are in their position, you can't afford to go to a bunch of unfamiliar places. Get used to a few places, take care of the people there and they will take care of you. Don't be a cheap stupid drunk idiot, be good to the people. I have seen guys do this and have no problems, personally.

Yeah, but trouble can happen at any time. They are targets, and should be well aware of that everytime they go out, and plan accordingly. I know what you are saying and understand it, just saying with their position a lot of it can be prevented if they are smart about what they do.

Sometimes you can control a situation and sometimes you can't. Yes bad things can happen at any time but there are a lot more drunks at closing time and there are a lot more cops on the streets who are also hanging around these places because they know what to expect. I didn't not listen so I don't expect others to listen. Just don't be suprised the next time you hear about a ball player getting nailed at some club during the early morning hours. It happens way to often to think that it is just some dumb bad luck.

It's called the Rookie Symposium. Obviously some slept thru the entire conference.
