Forgotten addition

That's true but it was obvious they had no clue how good Parsons was going to be. If they had any clue, they would have tried to move up to get him. Instead, they actually traded back with the EaGirls before picking him. Fact that they traded back with their biggest rival should tell you what they thought of Parsons.
That can be said for so many players, though. Jimmy wanted to draft a linebacker in the first round instead of Emmitt Smith. Only when the linebacker went off the board did he take aim at Emmitt.

Parcells wanted to draft Marcus Spears in the first round over DeMarcus Ware. He had to be talked into taking Ware. The draft was and remains a crapshoot. We do better at some positions than others, but there's just a whole lot of luck involved in how the draft falls and you getting the guy who works out instead of the one who fails.

It's somewhat of a crap shoot but there are certain teams that consistently do a better job of picking certain positions year in and year out. We just happened to be good at picking offense, specifically OL, than defense. Last 13 years of draft history proves this point. The Giants on the other hand suck at drafting OL. It's been forever since they have had a good OL even though they've been spending many draft capital drafting OLinemen.

That should indicate that certain teams have better evaluation process for certain positions for whatever reason. If the draft is truly a "crap shoot" random process, we wouldn't be drafting so much better players on offense than we do on defense in the first three rounds last 13 years.

Not saying I disagree but what is this based on?
I have heard 2 or 3 talking heads on tv say a variation of this and maybe that's where it comes from but does anyone have any specifics that lend to the idea that he is some leader, or smart player or steadying presence? Its not a loaded quesiton where I disagree, Id love it to be true, but what is it based on?
Based on what I read. And watching them play. I see a lot of Bengals games.

As early as it is for Logan Wilson working in the middle for Dallas, he's already contributing well. Here's hoping he'll continue to improve his contributions in the coming weeks ahead. I think he'll continue to improve his recognition of what's expected of him in his experience with this defense and its scheme. The recent defensive results and his help speak well for his chances to stay put.

Logan Wilson has pulled the Unit together. Dallas's Strength is their D-line. Wilson and Overshown have come together. They are the shot callers.

KC Game Snap Count
Murray 55%
Wilson 45%
Overshown 70%
James 18%
ML 8%

Agreed. We've seen Overshown make more plays with his speed to the sideline. I think Wilson shows up in knowing where to be. If he hits his fits, this helps the run game because the back has to shift to a different hole that may clog up with a lineman. Usually if the run defense is improved, the DL deserves credit but so does the MLB.

We seem to leave Murray out there a lot for coverage. That should be his strength but he gets turned around a lot. Can't say Wilson has shown that he needs to be the coverage linebacker more than Murray, though. I think his strengths as reading the QB in short zones and playing the run. When he has to chase receivers downfield, he's overmatched speedwise. Murray isn't overmatched speedwise, just instinctswise.
I would like to see the stats for the Cowboys defense with Murray on the field vs Wilson on the field.

Help me understand what you mean by “contributing well”.

So far, all anyone has said is either a knock on Murray or a vague touchy feely mention about intangibles.

Well, he has only one stat, so that part is easy

Three games

  • 8 tackles
  • Every other stat column is blank.

Let me look up Murray real quick

Same three games
  • 7 tackles
  • 1 fumble recovery
  • 1 pass defense

The Wilson addition was huge. He's solidified a key position. Hope his injuries don't start cropping up again.
He’s been consistently one of the worst graded defenders on the team since he joined

And yes, Murray and Liufau suck also and I’ve included them as

Eagles

Bottom line is that Wilson is bad and people are inventing “intangible” reasons to prop him up, just as everyone knew they would when he walked in the door.

We talk about Q and for good reason, but what are your thoughts and observations on the play of the other deadline addition….LB Logan Wilson, thus far?
Good, just trying to figure why Murray keeps playing

So far he's just quietly doing his job well. He has rough plays sometimes but for the most part he's been where he should be . That's a vast improvement from the likes of Sanborn. That was a good trade we made for basically NOTHING. Wilson is as great leadership as well. Something we sorely needed. One thing, he will get the LB core lined up right.

It was a word of praise for Wilson, not for Murray. I think Wilson is contributing well.
