Former Cowboys players comments on their new team

I have said it before. The Dallas Cowboys are not a football organization. The Dallas Cowboys are a marketing organization that happens to be in the sport of football. Other teams focus on football. The Cowboys focus on the stuff that has nothing to do with football.

Who does players see as the actual leader in Dallas?

Your guess is wrong if your answer is their head coaches.

Bonus points if you said Bill Parcells was an exception. Kinda.
THIS is why you need a strong HC.......one who will tell Jerry during the interview, that distractions like this won't be tolerated. I know they have their critics or doubters but Saban or Belichick would be perfect IMO. Young coaches wouldn't last two years.......

Those ex-Cowboys players are correct. The outside drama of Jerry's lust for advertising, making extra money and allowing tourists to infiltrate the facility daily is badly affecting the team/players/coaches.

It also means those players are not mentally strong enough to handle being a Dallas Cowboy.

When we toured we were told to not interact with the players or take pictures. Only Charles haley took time to take pics with the family

That's the problem coz ........... notice the titles and responsibilities. Granted there is nothing wrong with this per se but it appears football has taken a back seat to entertainment.

  • Stephen Jones
The chief operating officer and co-owner. Stephen works closely with Jerry Jones on building the roster, evaluating draft picks, and negotiating contracts.

  • Charlotte Jones
The chief brand officer and co-owner. Charlotte is responsible for all things brand-related for the Cowboys, including the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and the Thanksgiving Halftime Show.

  • Jerry Jones Jr.
The chief sales and marketing officer and co-owner. Jerry Jones Jr. oversees the club's sales and marketing, including merchandising and digital and broadcast media.

Jerry Jones has zero incentive to stay out of Nick Saban and Bill Belichick’s coaching influence. Jones did suppress his narcissism initially when he hired Bill Parcells but he had the incentive of selling a billion dollar stadium to the DFW area also.

Interesting. I did the tour a couple of years ago in our tour was halted because we were told there was a "player in the facility" and we had to wait until he left before we could resume the tour. I was under the impression there was no interaction between the tourist and the players during any tour unless a player would initiate the contact. Tours of the Star are the least of the Cowboys problems. Get mentally tough and physical on the field would be a start to getting things in the right direction. If they can't handle a tour going through a building while they are there then their mental state is soft as a marshmallow.

Everybody wants to be part of the show until they're no longer part of the show.

That said, it's no secret that other teams are more football-centered than Dallas as far as aesthetics.

You want pure football, Dallas is not the team for you. You want football AND ...., then get ready to put on your tap dancing shoes.
Tap dancing shoes don't win Super Bowls WoodysGirls! LOL, LOL
