LVE is kind of easy to write off. He hasn't done much since his rookie year. Zeke, while underwhelming, is still solidly productive. And I even have an LVE jersey in my closet. It was given to me (I'd never buy merch for any sports team beyond a fitted cap) but I still have it. He just hasn't been that great, has been injured often, and has the whole chronic neck issue. Two different beasts here.
Before the neck LVE was lights out, and MM was talking about the recovery time being about this season for that type of injury. Of course if he gets hurt again this year that's another story. Zeke was averaging 5 ypc before the knee injury against KC of course if he does keep getting injured that's also another story.

There is a reason why Mike T is
"former"
GM. That said, he may be right. But that doesn't mean he can't be effective at times. This is likely Zeke's last year with Dallas.

Quick recap, but audio above:

- Can run between tackles, but not dynamic
- Pollard is best back
- If they decide to run offense through Zeke, Cowboys are average team at best this year, and will get beat by Eagles and Giants

Through the first five games last year, no one would have been saying this. Elliott got hurt and that changed the conversation. We'll see if he can change it back.

If Zeke needs a really good OL to succeed, then money poured into the TB spot is wasted. It was always funny watching people say we have to pay Zeke because he makes the engine run and then when he showed he wasn't the same guy as he was as a rookie, people started blaming the OL or the QB or the OC.

I hope he plays well in 2022. And then I hope he gets cut or takes a massive pay cut to stay in 2023. It's simply a waste of valuable resources going forward to keep paying large base salaries.
Did Emmitt have a "really good o'line"?

Was 2016 "really good"?

I am not sure I said "really good" anyway. But when our center gets busted back into the QB before the handoff is even done...there's a problem. If zeke has to block TWO men....there's a problem.

How exactly...has Zeke contract hurt the team? And which RB are you gonna use to replace his O-line blocking?

I agree. JUst saying that Dallas has 21 million in cap space which ranks 3rd in the NFL. We can like it or not but Zeke's cap hit has been managed.
You beat me to it. These people are using money as an excuse. Too obvious.

While Zeke does get alot of hate on this forum mostly due the outrageous contract he is still one of the most well rounded backs in football. He was off to a great start prior to his injury and the OL falling apart. Him and Pollard are one of thr top duo's in football. Has he fallen off sure but people act like he's useless.

To this day how how many times have we've seen opposing player's mentioning stopping the run game is key and forcing Dak to beat them. Almost all the time. It's league known that Dallas is a MUCH better team when we dominate the ground game vs having Dak put up ridiculous numbers.

In the end no matter how good or bad a year zeke has he needs to be gone regardless. Highly doubt he takes a massive paycut. Pollard also needs way more touches

Glad it's not just the fans who are finally seeing this. Big disappointment. I really thought Elliott was going to be the next Emmitt. Hope he's gone next season. o_O
Stats don't lie. The man's play isn't matching his paycheck. Facts are facts!
There you go..right here..a hater. Zeke was on pace for a great season last year. Then got injured...was asked to play and he did.

We just showed you a video of him blocking for two offensive linemen....making for a success play for DAK.

None of this matter because you are more of a fan of money than players. Unrealistic expectations too. you wanted to beat or exceed Emmitt Smith? WT....F.

And then both Tony AND Dak will be gone...to IR.

How exactly does Zeke's contract hurt the team? Is that a serious question? You understand how the cap works right? We are taking an 18.2 million cap hit this year for a TB. The next closest is Derrick Henry at $15 million. When your TB is almost 10% of your total cap space, that's a problem. Someone pointed out we have 21 million in cap space. Great. How did we get that space? We restructured a bunch of contracts pushing cap hits into the future and got rid of a guy like Cooper in order to roll over some savings into next year when we are projected (Before adjustments) to be $12 million OVER the cap.

This isn't even about Zeke. I think it's ridiculous to pay any NFL RB what we are paying Elliott or Tennessee is paying Henry. You see teams win without nearly the investment in that position. You've seen teams choke on big RB contracts - Arizona, LA, Carolina is feeling the pinch with McCaffery's deal. It's just bad business to pay that much for a TB in today's NFL. San Fran ran over us in the playoffs and they have a fraction invested in TBs than we do.

"Managed" which means we restructured a bunch of other contracts pushing cap hits into the future to create the space we have. And they likely created that space to roll into next year because they have cap constraints coming down the pike.

Elliott's contract is just not a good contract. Especially in today's NFL.

Kind of inevitable....people like (an dmany others seen here in this thread) think he should exceed that season? CRAZY!

Not just zeke...but the offensive line has gotten worse. Offensive co-ordination has gotten worse.

But it's all zeke's fault.
People don’t blame Zeke. He has become so irrelevant that he is seldom the blame for the offense. People still complain about his cap hit because it’s beyond ridiculous. In my opinion the offensive scapegoats are Moore, Dak, OL and Big Mike in that order. I blame Moore and the OL most.

What’s more ridiculous is that Henry will be a primary ball carrier in TN. The offense runs through him. Zeke is an often injured 15 touch guy.

Disagree Pollard is good and has the more speed and burst but Zeke is still the better overall back

LOL......cmon buddy, just say it! You know you want to!!

By overall, all you really mean is that Zeke is the better blocker right? Thats all he is better at. And really, who cares?

I blame Moore. I blame Moore for continuing to feature Zeke.

What do you mean "before the neck"? He came into the league with it. IIRC, he was put on multiple team's "do not touch" list.
