He simply pointed out that Elway didn’t win a Super Bowl until the last two years of his career. He lost his first free Super Bowl because he didn’t have a good team around him. Some were saying he was a choker. He was having to carry his offense because they had no running game. Elway wasn’t nearly as good as QB when he won his two Super Bowls but he had a real good team around him that took a lot of pressure off of him especially with Terrell Davis in the backfield. Elway was only mentioned because Dak is putting up Hall of Fame numbers. In another couple of seasons, he’ll have just about every Cowboys passing record. Those of you who keep acting like Dak is trash are hilarious.
But in any of those Super Bowls that Elway lost in, could anyone honestly say that Elway contributed in the loses. I remember the Narrative back then being that it was Elway getting a team to the superbowl despite the team he was surrounded with.

A QB always contributes to a loss. Too much was put on Elway to carry the Broncos and it led to some rough games for him in those SB losses. Stop him and you stopped the Bronco’s. He was the reason they got to those SB’s but they ran into much better teams. His defense couldn’t hold up and everything got thrown on his shoulders.

Who ran the football for all of Bradys Super Bowls with the Patriots?....Corey Dillon? lol

Some baller qbs don't need it.
Thats a good point. Brady made WRs better as well. But... Brady is the GOAT. Hands down. Top tier. I dont think Dak is top tier. He's more like top of the 2nd tier. Heck, he was in the MVP talks this season and with good reason. But, results speak more than that.

An Interesting way to look at it and quite refreshing?

Jerry has all the leverage if he's willing to use it.

If Jerry signals that the Cowboys won't push Dak's cap hit into future years, Dak will be looking at a very down year going into his last big contract, while the Cowboys will be looking at a clean cap for the rebuild and new QB.

Currently looks like we're not signing Tyron and Biadasz. Does Dak wanna put a year of tape out there with backups, rookies, or veteran castoffs protecting him at the key oline positions?

Negotiations are generally a game of chicken. Who will swerve first? "Dak has all the leverage" assumes the Cowboys want him back. What if they don't?

It's the side that can most live with "No Deal" that has the leverage.

You’re viewing this unrealistically. Realistically Jerry doesn’t care what Dak has done in the playoffs. It’s about what type of player he is. And he’s coming off an all pro. Plus the Cowboys have shown they aren’t the best evaluators of talent at the QB position. Dak doesn’t need the Cowboys. If they cut him today he’d have suitors.
Dak would still get a job.

Would it have the same endorsement deals? The same opportunities for a post NFL career?

Cowboys have actually been good talent evaluators at QB for the last 20 years.
Franchise QBs for the last 20 years w/o spending more than a 4th. Can any other team say that?

Did he really compare Dak to Elway not winning a Super Bowl until late in his career?

Elway carried 3 mediocre Broncos teams to Super Bowls prior to winning back to back at the end of his career.

Elway's best WR corp prior to winning those Super Bowls was the 3 Amigos, lol

What….did…they….do….before….Dak….got….here?
They were perfecting their trade so that when they finally got a QB who could lead them to the promise land they'd be ready to rock and roll, but unfortunately for them Prescot has been anything but a leader of men when it comes to taking on opponents with a winning record or 1st rd playoff games. The dude has gotten filthy rich beating mud-ducks in the NFL and has turned into a look-a-like Kurt Cousins, sucking up a large chunk of the CAP SPACE that could be used to help obtain much needed FA help. The Cowboys need to rip off the band-aid and inform Prescot there will be no extensions heading his way and force his hand by relieving him of his QB spot and allowing both Rush and Lance compete for the starting QB spot. If Prescot is that true team player, he should supply JJ with a list of teams that he would allow the Cowboys to trade him to. The picks that the Cowboys receive can be used to move up in the 2024 draft to pick a 1st rd QB..................

So you still haven’t answered the question.

Yeah Elway played on multiple superbowls, Dak can’t win on a divisional game.

Also I believe todays NFL rules really benefit Dak.

Please explain how the same rules for both teams when Elway played compared to the same rules for both teams when Dak plays, gives Dak an advantage over Elway?

Unbelievable

The only reason the Cowboys have have gone 12-5 last 3 seasons is because of Parsons. Before Parsons got here this team was struggling.
They gift Dakko a ton of T/O and a great field position since Parsons has been here.
Let's also not forget the DOG teams they abused during this period.

Yeah makes sense with the disappearing act Micah has every year lol. Very sound logic that a defensive end is why a whole team wins 12 games lol.

Yeah apparently somehow one guy is getting a pass why a few others are getting blasted for reasons why they're losing in the playoffs yeah that is hilarious thank God I got that dude blocked I mean where was this defense in the five losses where was this defense in the Seattle win and for sure where was this defense in the playoff game where was Micah Parsons ohh that's right he probably was having a snack with his buddy tank talking about how tired they are and they probably expected the quarterback to win 40 to 38 and they were just going to call it a day lmao

so, #4 is not carrying the team in the playoffs it's all his fault we're not winning big games but somehow the others are getting a pass... I I think people don't realize that championships from the top down are one every player from the 53 man roster and the entire coaching staff and the front office are responsible for those games for whatever reason you throw in bad luck injuries the referees etcetera it is tough to get to and win big games it is when you're against other teams who are also there for a reason you have to play your best from the top down it's very rare that you can win when parts of your team just not playing well and in this case that would be a lack of a run game in physical offensive line weak up the middle on defense and some terrible game plans and adjustments that is what's been going on here for quite a long time before and after Parsons before and after Prescott....

Imagine if Dak was as good as all the former players say he is. 8 years with nothing to show except the support of ex-players. EXTEND HIM JERRY!!! YOU MUST!!!
It's funny because I seem to remember ex player Kurt Warner pointing out Daks flaws and suddenly people wanted to hear more and I guess a gag order was put out by Jerry.

Is this thread about a CZ poster or an NFL QB? damn groupies always trying to move goalposts.
You're the one that made the comment about the opinion of a former NFL player ...that's where you took the topic, not, me. I just responded to where you took it.

The reality is you attempted to discredit the opinion of a very good former NFL player based on the fact his NFL team didn't win championships, yet you have an entirely different bar for yourself and those that agree with you.

If you set playing on championships teams in the NFL as the bar that has to be reached for an opinion to matter, it has to apply to all opinions.

But, apparently the bar you set for the opinion of you and those that agree with you is just being a random guy with a computer willing to post on a website.
