Probably cause they're the ones holding 3 Lombardi's.

FWIW-audio communication has been blowing out on an almost consistent basis at The Linc(where the Eagles play, of course) during their opponents' drives at critical junctures of the games. Joe Gibbs complained about it. It happened against the Bears last year when they had the ball with no TOs, and less than 2 minutes to play(they ended up winning through).

Actually-I'm wondering why teams like the Eagles(and the Packers, who have been doing so) have gotten a free pass on this issue.

Hmm?

Didn't Warner go 5-3 only to be replaced by Eli who went 1-7 (that one win against us)?

He started 5-1(with his lone loss being against the NFC Powerhouse Eagles in wk1), only to subsequently stink it up against the lowly Bears, Lions, and Cards in subsequent weeks...which all but force Coughlin to realize he needed to look forward to the farer future more.

Again the 'Frankie down the street does it too' excuse except this time there is nothing but innuendo to prove Frankie does anything. It does not excuse their conduct.

He hurt his thumb. You may recall what Romos accuracy turned out like after he hurt his thumb.

Actually-I was talking about his '04 stint with the Giants-he was healthy through those 9 games.

It was in '01 when he hurt his thumb, I think.

BTW-about your earlier "skilled positions" responses-Got it. About Branch though-his problem hasn't been his lack of talents, its his inability to stay healthy when he went to Seattle. Otherwise, if he didn't got down in the GB playoff game, that outcome might have been different.

Hes had problems with his hand since 2002. Its a recurring issue with him if it gets hit it stays hurt since then.

I remember a throw he ade to a TE in 1999 in the endzone where it was from the 5 and he had to throw it maybe ten yards with a LB right in front of him. It was perhaps the best touch pass Ive ever seen as it went right over the LBers hands and right in stride to the TE. Absolute perfection.

After all the huffing and puffing and all is said and done, the Patriots won't be stripped of their Super Bowl titles.

Fans jealous of the Pats' success or righteously or self-righteously appalled by Spygate will still maintain their positions regardless.

And life will go on.

Maybe Pats have bugged every team in the NFL and know every play they are going to call, before its called and send it telepathy to team leaders on the fly! LOL

Or maybe they flat out are good. Shula said he knew exactly what our 90's Cowboys were going to do but he could not stop it. No one can stop Pats in 2008.

19-0 is 19-0

If they are so dam good Nors, then answer me this. Why cheat?

I have yet to hear any logical response to this question from anyone. If they are the greatest team of all time, 19-0 and everything, why did they have to cheat, especially against the Jets.

If they are so great and blow everybody out, why was it neccessary to videotape signals. The commish said there were a total of 6 tapes (1 got leaked) and that there were multiple teams on the tapes, not just the Jets.

So why did the greatest team of all time have to cheat against weaker competition if there was no benefit. Why cheat if you dont need to?

Nobody has provided a logial explanaton to this question.

When the Giants would visit Candlestick in the 80's, Parcells said how their audio communication were blown out for a good bit to start the game...the Niners, OTOH, running the WCO had their first 15 plays scripted.

Again-not condoning cheating, but to say that [such and such] team's coaching staff is honest and pure is a bunch of hogwash-obviously pretty much everyone will do anything to gain a competitive edge.

Dont tell me you are now a Pats apologist, that is their favorite line.

"everybody else cheats, so what is the big deal"

As a general rule, other teams practices are off limits to opposing teams. The fact they are defending them violating that is laughable. If you understand that watching another teams practice will give you an edge then youre stupid.

Stupid is not the right word, more like ******** if you think a team does not gain a competitive advantage by watching a team go through their red-zone plays.

A freaking 10 yr old would know that is an advantage!!!

These Pats apologist are just freaking halairious trying to defending taping a practice before the SB.:lmao:

CigarCutter

I didn't think the Pats taping the Jets was a big deal. It was during a game, which was out in the open. The Pats could have had someone watching opposing coaches and taking notes, instead of taping, and no one would say boo.
However, if they taped a walk through or any type of closed practice, I think we have a problem. I do not know if there will be league penalties or lawsuits, but I think something is going to happen.
In my business, if I got caught doing something comparable to a competitor, I'd be in jail.

You're right. But it may get an incompetent commissioner out of office and may correctly punish the Patriots which would prevent other teams from cheating in the future.

I'll take that.

Indianapolis pipes in fake crowd noise. Teams mess with fields, locker rooms (heat/cold) on and on. JJ and Switzer admitted they taped signals, don't see anyone crying about our 3 SB wins cheating. Players have taken steroids dating back to 1970's. In fact Steelers were a totally roided up team. No one talks about that.

Fred Smerles who played in 1980's era said it was prevalent. Damn cheaters everywhere. Teams have signals, teams will try and steal signals. Thats how it is. The hillbilly dim wits that get pawned by the smart coaches s/b emberassed. Bot woo hhoo hoo, lets all PC the stupid *** victims!

There is not ONE MLB coaching staff EVER that has not tried to steal 3rd base signals. NONE. Damn cheaters.

The league has never stated that Indy was piping in fake noise. Huge difference.

Not to mention that I think anybody should be able to tell the difference between the impact of doing something like faking crowd noise or messing with the temperature in a locker room versus getting an advantage of knowing what a team is going to do by secretly taping them.

Lastly, two wrongs don't make a right.

JJ and Switzer admitted they taped signals, don't see anyone crying about our 3 SB wins cheating.

What they did wasn't against the rules.

Plenty of people were crying about the Steelers when Haslett stated the team was roided up in the 70's. Again, two wrongs don't make a right.

Fred Smerles who played in 1980's era said it was prevalent.

Like he's an unbiased source.

There is not ONE MLB coaching staff EVER that has not tried to steal 3rd base signals. NONE. Damn cheaters.

Baseball also has a steroid policy suspending players for 50 games if they get caught. Just because something happens in baseball doesn't mean the NFL should follow suit. In fact, the opposite should probably be true.

1. There is a difference between gamesmanship and cheating.

To use your baseball analogy, I think it is gamesmanship for a player/team to try and steal signs during a game. However, I think it would be cheating for the team to send someone to the ballpark before a game, and secretly listen in/photograph a team meeting, to try and steal signs.

I think the Pats were guilty of going a bit too far by taping the Jets. There was nothing wrong with trying to get their signs, it was HOW they did it. This Rams thing, though, is quite different. I think this is going to be ugly, if true.

2. PEDs are a different topic altogether.

IF WALSH HAS VIDEO, BELICHICK DONE FOR A YEAR

ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reports that, if it turns out that former Patriots employee Matt Walsh has in possession video of the Rams' final walk-through practice from Super Bowl XXXVI, New England head coach Bill Belichick will be suspended.

For a year.

Wow.

If Walsh has a such a tape, and if Belichick knows or suspects that he does, it could have a profound affect on Belichick as he prepares for the final act in a possible 19-0 season. We're not saying that it'll affect his coaching in any way; it might actually make him more focused and determined. But the knowledge that this game could be his last one for 19 months, and possibly his final time on the sidelines with the Patriots ever, is likely something that not even the modern-day Bud Grant would be able to conceal.

Indeed, if Belichick knows that he's toast, he might opt to retire before "Spygate II" hits the fan. And he'll be carrying those thoughts somewhere in his brain throughout the day and night in Phoenix.

And given that the Patriots have issued a statement calling Saturday's report from the Boston Herald "absolutely false," evidence to the contrary might compel owner Bob Kraft to fire his head coach on the heels of a fourth Super Bowl win in seven seasons.

Though plenty of folks are questioning the timing of these new disclosures, the fact is that if there's any truth to the report and that truth comes out, the guy who'll pay the biggest price is Belichick.

Either way, this is something that needs to be investigated quickly, so that if there's nothing to it the Pats and Belichick can have the cloud of suspicion removed.

I doubt that will ever happen...the damage is already done. This will never go away because of the destroyed tapes...I love it! Why destroy something if you have nothing to hide?

What goes around comes around!

He's saying nothing but "pay me for the real story" and guys who have been writing about the Pats for weeks on end now have run out of stories so they run this

How is it a non-story because he wants to get paid for it?

I dont see the connection?
