I think it’s more about misevaluation than him trying to be a salesman. I’d put it at about 80/20.

I truly think he listens to the sunshine that assistant coaches tell him about the development of later round draftees.

There probably isn’t much “This guy can’t play Mr Jones and I’m not doing well at fixing that,” so he thinks every damn late rounder and UDFA is going to hit because that’s what he wants to believe and can’t see the difference for himself.

The kid just sits there and repeats…’why should we overpay for a free agent when we have the draft?’
