He won’t get a shot but if there was one athlete in the history of the sport I would not bet against it would be TO.

Dude is just a different type of athlete.

He was not washed up his last year in Cinci. It’s too bad he never got another chance…

"Arguably the greatest WR to ever play"?

Is this a joke? He's arguably the 2nd or 3rd greatest, there is no question who the greatest ever is. Jerry Rice, hands down. There's a solid 7 years or production for a starting caliber WR between the two.

I guess you don't recall TO inability to run routes precisely? All his QB's were mobile: Young, Garcia, McNabb, Romo. TO made plays when QB's extended plays and he adjusted.
....this was overlooked/dismissed often. If this were Tebow......

I'm sure he is still in great shape for a man his age. Still, c'mon man.o_O

Hold on there potna.. Jeff Garcia was a quality QB. Not great.. not Hall of Fame.. but a quality NFL starter. The dude took the 49ers to the playoffs.. he took the Bucs to the playoffs at age 37.. when his primary receivers were a 36 year old Joey Galloway and Ike Hilliard.. He rescued the Eagles when McNabb got hurt and went 5-1 to help them get to the playoffs.

And Fitz? You can't be serious.. Here is the list of QBs with whom Fitz has put up pro bowl/1000 yard seasons..

2005 - Kurt Warner
2007 - Warner (11 games) and Leinert ( 5 games)
2008 - Warner
2009 - Warner
2010 - Derek Anderson, Max Hall, John Skelton (90 catches for 1137 yards with these bums throwing to him)
2011 - John Skelton, Kevin Kolb ( 80 catches 1411 yards .. second highest yardage in his career)
2012 - Kolb, Skelton, Ryan Lindley, Brian Hoyer
2013 - Carson Palmer
2015 - Palmer
2016 - Palmer
2017 - Palmer (7) , Drew Stanton (4), Blaine Gabbert (5).. (109 catches 1156 yards)

Sorry but that dude has kicked butt pretty much regardless of who has been throwing him the ball. Now yes he is old as dirt now and never going to put up any more 1200 yard 100 catch seasons. But he deserves props for what he accomplished seemingly no matter who the QB was.
2012 he had 798 yards and 4 TDs in 16 games. I don't care that he was in the Pro Bowl, that's not a Pro Bowl season. In any case, mostly Warner and Palmer - both high quality QBs - and he did have the down seasons I mentioned.

Just to be clear, I'm not disparaging Fitz - he's a great player. I just think the premise of this point is a bit contrived

Maybe the voters looked at the list of chumps throwing him the ball and thought "my God it's a miracle he did what he did?"

Still I will concede that MOST of his great seasons came with good to great QBs tossing the rock.. However there can be no denying that he also put up great seasons with Garrett Gilbert caliber QBs throwing to him. That 1400 yard season in 2011 with those bums throwing him the ball was Hall of Fame worthy all by itself. I just think he proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he could produce pretty much regardless of who was throwing him the ball. Yes he was BETTER with better QBs.. but he was always "good" no matter who the QB was.

I wouldn't call Derek Anderson or Kevin Kolb Garrett Gilbert level - Gilbert has only had one decent game in 7 years. But in any case, it's not TO's fault he was fortunate enough to not have any seasons with that level of QB, and you can't downgrade him for not doing something when he was never even in the position to do it.
