It would suck to only make $6.363 million a year.

You mean we can franchise Flozel for only $7.455 leaving us with about
$8.5M to spend re-signing Canty, Barber, Hamlin & our rookie draft pool. Where do we find the money to extend TO & maybe Newman. Just don't see how we can sign all of these players & get a quality FA on any position to help us.

Don't know cap ramifications if we cut/trade Spears & Carpenter. Also this last year of Glenn's contract and don't see him coming back. Doubtful we can keep Keith Davis if he can only contribute on ST. Any ideas.

I don't know who you're responding to, but can I ask where your cap numbers come from?

I don't think that anyone in the organization was giving any realistic thought to franchising Flo.

Good thing Flozell doesn't play DL then, huh?

DOH! I read it as Offensive Tackle for some reason. :bang2:

Still, I wish I was 32 and making $7.5 million.

Hes not orth $7 mil. Thats the kind of money you give a 25 year old not a 33 year old. If hell take 3 years at around 5 per thats about right. If someone wants to pay more c'est la vie.

These are franchise numbers not what he would get if we signed him to a new contract.

There were 12 offensive linemen who had a cap hit of at least $6 million this past year. All but 4 were over 30. Of the 4 that weren't 3 were 29 years old.

Thanks. I always miss those sticky's. Franchising Flo, or even resigning him, looks to be a longshot with the cap that tight and the younger guys that need to be signed.

Cutting Roy as a June 1st cut would create about $3m in cap room.

Trading Spears and/or Carpenter would accelerate their bonuses into the 2008 year (or are trades treated like June 1 cuts?).

That's merely the cap space we'd need to hold on to him, instead of allowing him out into free agency. I still think a franchise and trade deal would work. Someone would give up a pick. It's even less expensive.

I think whether we cut/trade/retires RWilliams it is all treated the same. Cap implications too high to do anything about RWilliams in 08. Maybe it can be revisited after 08 season but more then likely the earliest time would be after 09 season. .

I thought it was only 7.4 or whatever, that whole number, if they Franchise him and then only give him a 1 year deal? If they give him a multi year deal I'm sure they can work it to where it won't hit for quite as much till the back end.

But, I'm certainly not a cap expert so I don't really know how any of that works for sure.

That is the kind of money you would give to a 33 year old LT. IF he were one of the best in the game.

Flo is good and has played well but he just doesn't meet that bar.
