I disagree. I think 1st dallas will let Murray hit the FA market and based on that they will look to make him an offer. If he chooses to leave I think AD could come here but it will not be for a high price. I think Jerry believes in what they have been doing to get things back in order and what has made us competitive and I don't see that changing. Based on some views on NFL network Dallas is not even a team looking at Hardy while teams like Cinncinnati, Raiders and Falcons are better fits. Do I think NFL Network knows all? Of course not and I would not be surprised to see Dallas make an offer to Hardy I just do not see Dallas spending big on him.

Who the heck is AD... I thought Jerry was pooping himself for Adrian Peterson.
If he becomes available and Murray leaves as expected. Jerry will go "all in" on
that one.

Hardy and JPP were the two I had been considering there, though JPP is getting tagged. Fairly, maybe. McPhee moves into that category for me if he gets anywhere near his asking price. But, yeah, Hardy makes the most sense.

As good as he is, I could easily believe no team is going to risk a long-term deal for Hardy. That doesn't mean he won't get huge money. It'll basically be in the form of a near-franchise amount for a year or two with a giant club option after that. Something that puts cash in his pocket and lets him stay on the straight and narrow for the longer-term payday while he's still ~28 years old. If the team that drafts you is not going to pony up long term as good as Greg Hardy is, that's a pretty good indication that many teams would not take that risk. There's always the crazy outliers (I'm looking at you, Redsk*ns) who take stupid risks now and then, but I don't think that list of crazies will be all that long. If there's not a candidate for a crazy contract out there, Dallas becomes the frontrunner, or nearly so, in that sweepstakes.

That's assuming, of course, that we've done our diligence and we actually want him on the team.

I can also see Atlanta being a big contender for his services too. They're desperate for a pass rush too and have been clearing up money recently.

it is not my opinion on Romo it is however the opinion the Cowboys are giving. You can sit there and say well I think he will be here 1 or 2 years and you may be right I don't know I do know that the Cowboys are saying they feel good with him for the next 4 to 5 and thus their plans will be in line with that view.

I'm not looking to be in the majority or minority, I think Dallas will be active in FA I also think the players they will likely go after are not the high priced FA. We will see what happens

Yes we will. And as always I appreciate your enthusiasm and the quality conversation.

AD is Peterson nickname, it means All Day it was the nickname he has had since his days at OU, not AP.
I think Peterson wants to play for Dallas but as a 30 year old back I don't think dallas will offer him that much, if they were going to offer a lot for a RB Murray would be signed a back that coaches and the QB have been lobbing for.

Don't get me wrong on Romo I don't know if it will be 2 years or 4 years he will be playing. I do know how you see things will play a part in what you do. If you see it as 1 to 2 years then you want to spend now and make a run. Dallas sees it longer term than that and I think they will not only look short term in what they do but long term with other players who will become FA next season.

He very well could end up in Atlanta, them being rivals with Carolina and whatnot. But we have leverage they don't have -

We went 12-4, won a playoff game/Atlanta went 6-10 and fired their HC

We also have a DC that players love playing for.

Neither would I, at all. And that goes along with what I have been saying about signing the big-time DE too. It would absolutely allow the team to go with the BPA approach.

At this point, given such needs at DE, they may be inclined to reach for need at that spot and we end up with another Ebenezer Ekuban or worse!

Owamagbe Odighizuwa DE UCLA........You know it's coming:omg:

Yeah, it does seem that I see things differently, specifically when it comes to Romo. I don't think it's wise to count on him for quite so long. If he last that long, great. If not, I don't want to be stuck with no option.

I get the feeling we are going to be stuck either way. I really don't like our track record with replacing QBs.

I agree with all of those things. The only factor that I can see derail us is if the Falcons' braintrust goes all in and is willing to pay much more than we are.

Have anyone in mind?

Not really, haven't given it much thought until now. I just don't think I would rest one games hopes on Weeden again.
Off the top of my head I would give Sanchez a shot. I doubt any one will look at him as a starter again.

I also wouldn't be against making a splash on offense. In FA or early in the draft.

People would probably freak out if the Cowboys start this draft with a WR and RB selection. Maybe even a RT to boot. Not me. Just as long as the value is there.
I would love to see us sign Cecil Shorts. Fits well with Bryant and Williams. Good #2 WR who has had to carry a #1 workload and can play in the slot. Probably wont cost more then 4 million a year. We also had interest in him coming out of school

I let it go, but I get really annoyed when people call him AP
