I don't know why people pay attention to this Gameover guy. You're talking about someone who said Romo would be a back-up if he was released. That's literally one of the most idiotic things I've ever heard.

I have no problem with Tony getting a nice contract but I don't see what he has done to deserve being the highest paid player in the nfl. Allot of Qbs throw for good numbers. What separates them is post season wins and superbowl rings. Tony has 1 playoff win. I realize it isn't all his fault, but some of it is. From a business standpoint there is no way I pay him top money. Now if tony leads the team into the playoffs and even pushes for a superbowl then I could justify top money, but not until then.

market man, the market. A top QB does not often become really available.

Look at Manning last year; there were SERIOUS questions about whether he would be able to play again let alone at a top level at his age.

But look at the money that was thrown at him.

Tony is not as good a QB of course but he is a lot younger and healthier and real football experts understand how handicapped he was with a terrible O line the last few years.

So on the open free market I could see him getting $20 million a year.

lol....since when?..... funny to me that on inside the NFL this season P Simms was making fun of this stat saying Romo is the only QB he has ever heard of this stat used on.....I agree , never heard before this season.....

Kind of like the hat on backwards thing.....never heard another player in any sport criticized for it...and still havent, Romo also seems to be the only one whom the general public has a problem with playing golf

yeah, the win or go home thing is a Romo-hater original.

Does anyone really think that the team was less pumped or wanted to win any less in that huge NFL season opening game on the road at the defending SB Champ Giants in front of a national audience, or even at home vs the Steelers, any more than they wanted that final Washinton game?

Same nerves, same pressure, same intensity. But no, the game where we have half the team missing, don't play as well, and are on the road against a team playing better than us counts way more....afterall, it was win-or-go-home. Good grief.
It's so outrageously stupid.

I would get some satisfaction if there is a pretty good team out there less a quarterback that got Romo and he did take them deep into the playoffs and see all the haters eat crow while the Cowboys have a 5-11 season.

If I were Romo I would be seriously looking at another team and let his critics "enjoy" life without him. Don't expect Romo would do that.

It would be poetic justice if he went to another team and won a SB MVP for a great game.

Of course the romo haters would never be allowed to forget that

Just to show how quickly some perceptions can change, here is a December 2012 write-up on Joe Flacco--who made this top 5 most hated players list.

"
1. Joe Flacco- During the football offseason, Joe Flacco proclaimed himself to be the best quarterback in the league. This season, in the last two weeks, he has been outplayed by Charlie Batch and (briefly) Kirk Cousins. One of them hadn't seen NFL relevance since Seinfeld aired and the other was seeing his first NFL action of his career. The best indeed. His absolute mediocrity as a quarterback would be way easier for me to deal with if he accepted it and shut his mouth but no. Flacco makes it a point during every interview to stress how he isn't ever the problem or how he played well despite throwing 3 picks and fumbling more than Jim Abbot reaching for his wallet. A lot of people like to point to the fact that if Lee Evans catches the ball in last years AFC championship game, Ravens would've made the superbowl. A fact indeed, but I like to redirect them to the pick six he threw with under 4 minutes left to play that put them in that hole to begin with. Flacco was supposed to take the next step this year, but despite an electrifying performance in his opening game, he has fallen back into the inconsistent mess he has been since he started playing. I don't even really hate the way he plays, in this rare case, it's equal person and player that frustrates me. Forget that he was almost backing up Troy Smith during his first year in Baltimore or that he routinely has Ray Lewis threatening his first born after every mind numbing interception he throws. He is one of the most disappointing big game Quarterbacks in recent memory. Yes he's gotten to two AFC championships, so has Mark Sanchez and I left him off this list as a sympathy vote. He got to those games playing mediocre football at best behind a motivated defense that sensed Trent Dilfer 2.0 might be enough to get them back to the superbowl. If it's a big game, Joe cool becomes Joe I belong in in special school and falls to pieces."

Sportsideo, Dec 10, 2012

Of course, this guy ended up eating his words in a three game span in the playoffs. But some easily forget that in many circles, Flacco was considered almost Jag-like and way overrated.

I would love for Romo to go and win a ring elsewhere just to watch you committ suicide. Because you would not have any choice after all the BS you have spouted the last couple of years.

Well it really is a moot point because Jerry will sell his soul to keep Tony. They think he's THE guy.

I think Dallas will give him a fair deal I don't see Jerry selling his soul and yes they believe in him as do many within the organization.

Something about exaggerated comments that just kill me.

You can put Romo on any team and they would not win anything.HE's A LOSER! and the Cowboys should not extend him.

That's cause he is THE guy. We don't have a replacement for him so get over your Romo hatred and accept that he's gonna be our quarterback.

The guy for what? more 8 and 8 seasons, and missing the playoffs 4 of the last 5 years.

Troy Aikman went 94-71 (.570) as a quarterback in Dallas. Romo has gone 55-38 (.591). Everyone that has started between Troy's first game and Tony's last game is 57-69 (.452)
