Julius and Akin Ayodele will be on a BET special Friday night at 10:00 PM Eastern. Here is an excerpt of what JuJo says about The Tuna.

Jones on his relationship with former coach Bill Parcells:

” … Coach Parcells my first year, he (Parcells) kind of let me do what I wanted to do, second year and last year he kind of coached me too much, … . You know, you can’t really mess with a running back out there. You can tell them where to go and where the hole is gonna be … … He had me running like a robot. No disrespect to coach Parcells but, you can’t really tell a running back where to run or he’s gonna be out there looking like a robot. That’s what I was doing last year.”

Ayodele on if teammate Terrell Owens had a part in former coach Bill Parcells leaving the Dallas Cowboys:

“It had nothing to do with T.O. I think for coach Parcells it was his time. He felt like he had a window, you know four or five years and we didn’t win it. We came up short … ”

For those of you who say it wasn't Parcells, well, there you go.

I'll tend to believe Julius Jones because he looked nothing like what everyone saw his rookie year!

Mammacita thanks for the heads up ;)

I am dissapointed in JJ for making excuses. A great runningback makes plays no matter what .....

What he is saying may be true ...... but he should have been man enough to say these things when Parcells was here .....

He probably would have been benched if he did.

I don't think he has dwelled on this though. This is actually the first time I have seen him say this. I'm willing to give him a chance but it certainly is a no win situation for the Cowboys as far as his contract goes. If we pay him anything now, and he doen't get any better, we're stuck. If he comes out and looks like he did as a Rookie and puts up huge numbers, a career best, He will be too expensive to resign.

Are you serious? You can't mess with a running back's instincts espeically when you've never played the position... Parcells is overbearing, the team suffered from that. He's stubborn and I'm actually glad a new breath of fresh air is in Dallas.

Yeah Julius Jones is a dynamic running back, I'm glad the truth is out there. Parcells needed to go.

So now are we going to say we want a Barry "dance around in the backfield and look for places to run" type instead of an Emmitt( hit the hole hard) type of running back?

I like Julius, hope he has a great year next year. But Parcells coaching didn't hurt Curtis Martin.

The offseason is for chirping. And alot of folks have done it. So, ya know, we'll see.

NO, but you when the hole is not there why keep bouncing it off the back of you lineman, Julius Jones has the skills set to take it reverse field but Parcells was the type of coach to say hit the hole anyway...

Maybe Curtis Martin will bring it up in his Hall of Fame introduction speech.

No. We want a Julius Jones in his rookie season type of running back. I miss that guy.

Once again from NFL.com on Julius at Notre Dame:

Not really a self-motivated player and does not take well to hard coaching … Is just a little too lazy digesting the playbook … Has adequate power, but not enough to take on defenders one-on-one … Not mentally tough, letting minor injuries linger … Just used on screens, as he is a marginal route runner who looks late for the ball … Needs to protect the ball better and show better anticipation for contact … Will sometimes run up the back of the offensive lineman, but has enough pick-and-slide agility to gain yards inside … Prone to go down from the initial tackle, especially when defenders attack his feet … Has good foot quickness and change-of-direction agility, but is not sudden off cuts, gathering himself before accelerating.

Did Parcells coach at Notre Dame and not tell anybody?

I said the same thing about those players as well .... Hey I was one of the ones who wanted Parcells gone ..... but there is no reason to throw him under the Bus now.

Parcells had a certain way of doing things that worked for him in his career.

I do not like his way of running the show ..... I do not like coaches who try to make a player fit their precious scheme instead of playing to a players strength.

I would not be suprised at all if what JJ is saying was true ..... But he should not ahve waited till Parcells left to voice these opinions ...... He should have said them to him or never said them at all.

Parcells respected players who stood up to him as long as they did it to his face.

LT (he got in a fist fight with LT)
Keyshawn (Lots of yelling between those 2)
Brian Cox (same thing)
Even Greg Ellis (who although he said things to the press .... he confronted Parcells like a man ahead of time)

Parcells is gone ..... all JJ had to do his run different this year to show what happpened ..... no reason to make excuses now.

I'll put Jones and Spears in the same boat.

They say they wer 'shackled' or 'held back' by the coaching they got from Parcells?

Fine.

No problem.

I actually agree with both of them.

But this is their year to prove that on the field.

Both need to have great seasons to stay in Dallas.

Until then it's just talk.
