well once he went for a 2 day visit there was no turning back.

why turn down the chance to get paid well in a cover 2 defense that u excelled in with TB and having your old coach Tomlin there?

Yes, I'm sure they were willing to offer him much more than anyone else.

They must have taken him out on the boat.

excerpt taken from that article

The nine-year veteran Sharper, who registered nine interceptions in '05, seems prepared to make whatever accommodations are necessary, likely moving to strong safety

of course, dont' want Dwight playing SS

Vikings | Smith reaches three-year deal
Tue, 25 Jul 2006 16:18:21 -0700

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Minnesota Vikings have reached a three-year, $6.5 million deal with free agent FS Dwight Smith (Saints). He didn't receive a signing bonus as part of the contract, but he will be paid the $1.2 million he was scheduled to earn with the New Orleans Saints . Smith will receive a $615,000 roster bonus and $585,000 base salary. In 2007, he'll receive a $100,000 workout bonus, a $500,000 roster bonus and a $1.6 million base salary. In 2008, he'll have a $2.5 million base salary, $100,000 workout bonus and $500,000 roster bonus.

$1.2 this year. No singing bonus & no guaranteed money for future years?

This was the contract that was theoretically going to cripple us longterm and prevent us from resigning Roy Williams and Terrence Newman?

Why would it matter what Sharper plays for the vikes.... isn't the Cover 2 essentially just a 2 fs scheme.

It emphasizes on coverage, so Smith and Sharper would basically have fs responsibilities coverage wise anyways right?

Obviously we didn't want him.

Get over it. :)
