FS Smith signed 3 year deal with Vikings

Obviously we didn't want him.

Get over it. :)

Only if you promise to wear your Lynn Scott autographed jersey when we bring him in off the streets in mid season.

excerpt taken from that article

The nine-year veteran Sharper, who registered nine interceptions in '05, seems prepared to make whatever accommodations are necessary, likely moving to strong safety

of course, dont' want Dwight playing SS

He can and has played it a Cover 2 scheme.

$1.2 this year. No singing bonus & no guaranteed money for future years?

This was the contract that was theoretically going to cripple us longterm and prevent us from resigning Roy Williams and Terrence Newman?

Right. Wouldn't want too much money tied up in the secondary.

Yeah, I'm disappointed especially knowing the price was that low. In this day and time with the salaries being what they are ... that's called taking a flyer.

no, its just the guy isnt any good and we didnt have any interest in him or his lousy off field theatrics

I know its hard for some to grasp...but not many people other than a handful on this forum think Dwight Smith is anything more than a journeymen player

You know that really about the size of it...

I haven't seen this much excitement over a turd player since ****** Lee donned the Star.

He's better than any FS on our roster, and many of the FS's in the league.

That was never the question.

Obviously, something deterred our interest. I can't imagine what that something was, but I hope it was good. I knew we weren't getting him, my first post on the subject said as much. But I still can't come up with any decent reason why we wouldn't take an opportunity to make a significant upgrade, to a position that needs such an upgrade.

Baffling.

The Answer has a bad feeling this move will come back to haunt us....we have been looking for a true FS for years and Smith would have elevated this secondary into the elite status.

Dumb move Jerry....Dumb move....and the price Minnesota got him for was more than affordable, probably could have got him for less if he wanted a chance to be on a superbowl contender....

Hmm, except for the three teams that were lining up for his services within hours of his release. Two of which had his former coaches on the team.

Or the team that is moving their Pro Bowl free safety to make a spot for him.

I guess I should just adopt the board mentality. "Duh, I've never heard of this Dwight Smith, so he must suck. Besides, we've got Berry-o who hits hard and Pat Watkins who is tall."

Or really tall free safeties.
