I think the real story is Chris Carter is an overrated broadcaster. Great player at one time. But now he is just a blowhard that wrong many times and right once in a while.
Is it possible Witten's return is going to threaten Dak and Zeke's assuming the leadership of the team?
This never occurred to me.
I think not but this debate heats up a little and Carter nearly has a meltdown.
This reminds me of the Forum debates.
Enjoy.
The odd thing, I'm not sure I can ever remember a time where so many fans have had issues over paying a player $3.5M, even when we were in red. Never mind he's a beloved icon whose done nothing short representing everything the Cowboys stands for, but yet the reaction of his return has been brutal. Just don't get it.......strange/odd ( at least to me ).
Its a feel good signing at first! Then the annoyance comes the more you think about how dumb this was. Every defense in the NFL is celebrating the return of Witten. He was ranked 28th among TEs run blocking and he cant run anymore!
Whether he is correct depends on if he is right about the Cowboys targeting Witten 90 times over the season. If that’s true the Cowboys will take a step back at TE. But if, as is being reported, Witten only plays about 25 snaps a game, then Witten will not be the primary TE, and Carter will be wrong. Witten should not be the starter getting 90 targets, but as the #2 guy in a support role he would likely be an asset.
Carter is 100% correct.
IMO, the “harm” is this typifies the kind of move our sentimental GM makes historically. And one of many reasons why this team is in the midst of their longest championship drought in its long storied history. It’s typical Jerry and that’s not been good for over two decades.
Because it all counts!
Frankly, I'm sick of these "charity cases" where everyone looks the other way because they're "good guys".
This team would have over $20 million of extra cap space if they'd stop paying for "right kinda guys". And guys who don't actually help them to win games on Sundays.
It's a business, not a country club.
And people say things all the time that don't happen. How many years has Garrett given great speeches that end in disappointing results?

Go root for Belicheat then and please spare us your constant whining. If Belichek was running this team he would immediately cut bait with Sean Lee, Witten, Hurns, and sign Tank to $17m per year for 3 years or trade him for what he could get out of him.
I would not be surprised if he also cut Crawford and Dak would be getting some significant QB competition.
Hell The Hoodie wanted to trade Brady.
Personally I don'.Why would anyone give a hoot owls *** what Chris Carter thinks?
I agree. This analysis is spot on. All of you should listen to this and if you disagree with it you should look at it objectively and ask yourself why isn't it true. You will be hard pressed to come up with reasons it's not spot on if you are being honest with yourself.
I’ve never liked him and just can’t make myself listen to anything he says. It’s like listening to @Risen Star they just speak to hear themselves speak and have no credibility.Personally I don'.
He is just doing a job that pays well.
I will listen becut I want to know what is being said.
Over the years..
these guys do know things I have found.
I laugh at most of their discussions.
Nick is intelligent and he coaches his points well.
So I post so others can enjoy it, too.
It's just entertainment..pure and simple.

It’s mostly leadership. I get that you have no clue about that. It's a wasted spot and wasted cap space and it sets the team back.
