Future of Hardy - Ware like money. Is that what the future looks like to retain him?

Even if Hardy lights it up in 2015 not sure Jerry would risk signing him to a lucrative multi year deal. Hardy is walking on thin ice another domestic incident will have him out of the league for at least a year. If he does play great other teams may be interested and it would take guaranteed money to sign him. It's likely to be one season and done with Hardy.

I think a long term deal, if he plays at a 14-15 sack level, we'll be at a JJ Watt type deal.

Dunno if anyone will offer Suh money

No one will risk even close to that kind of money on him with the risk he carries. Another domestic violence charge would get him suspended for at least a year and possibly banned for life. Staying out of trouble for one season isn't going to wipe his slate clean.

I think we will learn a little about the Cowboys' intentions viz-a-viz Hardy from the draft. If we take a DE in the first 2 rounds (like the kid from UCLA projected to us), no way we are re-signing him. If not, there's a decent chance we make a run at Hardy...

It's a bottom line business. If he performs well this year and stays out of trouble there will be several teams offering big big money for his services.

What's it going to be then, eh?

And that is exactly what Rosenhaus was banking on by pushing for the prove it deal. He has done it before.

No one will offer him JJ Watt or Suh type money at least not the guaranteed money he's too big a risk. Staying out of trouble for one year doesn't lessen the risk with him.

4 yr 55mil with 16 mil guaranteed is around what I believe teams will offer hardy if he hits the open market. That's about 13.5mill/yr. Robert Quinn money. Not watt money but top 3 pass rusher money.

Agreed, 55-65 mil. He'll still have baggage and some will stay away....Great money, but not JJ Watt money...

If he has a great season whatever offers he gets will be heavily incentive-based to protect the team. Carolina didn't want him and very few other teams had interest and it had nothing to do with his ability. He's not going to get the kind of offers you think after being found guilty of assault.

It's like with anyone else in a position like that. If he performs at a really high level, and shows he can stay out of trouble, then Dallas will sign him long term if they'd like to.

I can't think of anyone in his position right now who's "currently" playing that's been convicted of assault. Guys like him stay out of trouble just long enough to get paid.

His price won't be as high as he wants it to be next year, even with a good year.

I am not making this about his personal issues but teams will be reluctant to shell out that kind of $$ even for a higher caliber player. This move benefits us.

Anyone recall what Ware's Dallas contract was, and what he signed for with Denver.

Could that be what Dallas is looking to take on if he proves to be someone we want to keep long term.

Thanks for your insights/responses.

Hardy will be worth it, he is a game changer.

Can this guy play a gamer yet before being anointed?

No kidding right?

If he's suspended for 4 games, it will be over a year since he's played a regular season game.

Hardy has a big mountain to climb in terms of preparation and practice before he regains his PB form.

He was in the offseason program last year, played in the preseason, and will be in the same position this year. While it is not ideal, he will be able to prepare and is in no different circumstance than someone that got early in the year. If guys can stay sharp after ACL tears and shoulder reconstructions then I think he can handle the exempt list.

He was barred from practices while on the list initially...until he got released all together.

Technically he's still on the exempt list, so I'm not sure what restrictions he has right now but I'd assume that he can't practice yet so that could be a potential problem with OTAs coming up.

Guys that have major injuries rehab all year long at team facilities most of the time. The exempt list is an entirely different animal.

I'm not saying that he's going to fizzle, but I'd imagine that Tyron Smith is going to manhandled him a little bit until he gets back into "football shape". (can't wait for the over reactions when that happens)

I doubt the Cowboys would be the highest bidder and Hardy's camp isn't signing an in season extension unless it wows them.

My ideal situation is they draft a defensive linemen high this year due to the uncertainty and still end up resigning Hardy. Can never have enough plauers distrusting the quarterback.
