Adam Schefter repeated his oppinion that TO is released within a few weeks. Said Jets with Farve a possibility. Just repeating what was said.

So Dallas would release him and not get trade value out of one of the best WRs to play the game???

If he is released and I still think he is here for 2009, will there be any $$ for draft picks? I thought I saw we would be 10 mil under cap and his release is almost that much. How many contracts can you restructure?

Jerry needs his own stimulus package.

I'm sure teams are lining up to fork over draft picks to pay Owns $27M to come and get old on their dime and screw up their locker. Maybe they'll get lucky and he'll call their QB gay.

Even if he gets cut the best he is going to get is an incentive laden contract that is easily shed because most of the money will be in roster bonuses year to year. You know, like the first one we we wisely signed him to, not one with $13M gauranteed up front for a 35 year old malcontent.

No one is going to actually give up picks to take this albatross contract off Jerry's neck and put it on theirs.

Trade value. That's a good one.

It costs $680,000 more off the cap to cut him. Him being on the roster has no bearing on our ability to sign picks or Ware. Its just a matter if Jerry wants to swallow $9M for a guy who will be playing on another team.

Who said teams will 'fork over' draft picks... ARe you saying TO doesn't have ANY trade value?

Not with his current contract, no.

After being booted off three teams any GM with half a brain is going to want the flexibility to punt him without the huge cap hole like we are going to experience.

I'm not saying he's not a talented player or not productive - I'm saying the contract is a foolish one and no one is going to give us anything to take it when they can wait and sign him as a FA on their own terms - with the ability to quickly dump an aging player with a big mouth.

I think the only thing where his salary affects Ware, is T.O.'s high cap number.

Jerry/Stephen could negotiate with Rosenhaus to reduce T.O.'s cap number by guaranteeing more money and freeing up some to extend Ware. By cutting T.O.,you lose that flexibility.

We can do that with a bunch of players who just got signed large deals last year, like Romo and Barber - guys you would much rather guarantee more money to at this point. As I said before, Hamlin alone should be forced to take Ware's signing bonus out of his salary given his play last year.

There is plenty of flexibility to sign Ware.

What kind of trade value does a 35 year old WR, who annually is one the league leaders in dropped passes, and who has successfully divided 3 different team locker rooms in his NFL career have? I'm thinking not a lot. After this horrible season, I can now happily say I successfully quit drinking the T.O. Kool-aid.

Wasn't implying there was no flexibility to signing Ware, just that you would lose some.

Romo and Davis just tweaked their deal to sign Barber, T.O., and Hamlin last year. I guess they could tweak Barber and Hamlin's deal, but I wonder if that's something the org really wants to do considering both had somewhat of a down year.

Few teams would be willing to give much for a 35 yr old WR with $6M or whatever it is due this year. Especially one with TO's reputation.

On top of that, they are aware that he'd be released anyway. If Dallas wanted to get rid of TO, his release wouldn't be conditional upon whether or not they could get a conditional 6th or 7th rounder.

Apologize for what? Nothing is ever his fault!

Like Andy Reid made him apologize?

I wonder where TO comes out on this? I mean, the guy got booed here last year and everything. Other than losing a little money that might be hard to recoup, does he even want to be here? Couldn't he be another one of those guys who might be better off somewhere else?

Anyway, I am on record as saying emphatically that I think this team will be just fine without him. In fact, I think he needs to be released for the good of the team and the Cowboys brand.
