I second that emotion, since i don't recall the coaches sparking any controversy by talking to the media. i

Oh really?

What about "aw...shucks, take a day off because we got our rear ends kicked in the last game"....

Not him! Never happen, bone daddy! Terrell is the only player that tells the truth...it's in his genes. If anyone knows football and how to play the game...it's him.

:)

Thnx for fixing that for me.:)

I am happy Jerry issued this edict. I hope he makes it organization-wide. Especially stating that the players can speak to the media ONLY: at the post-game presser, on Wednesday's and for conference calls with the opposing teams press core. Or only league required times (media day at the SB etc.).

Honestly, I'm indifferent about those pregame interviews with Fox, ESPN, NFL Network, CBS or NBC before they air a big game Dallas is involved in. Unless the league requires it I hope Dallas players don't appear with Bradshaw, Strahan, Jaws, Simms, etc. next season.

I don't have a problem with it. It's simply about having one voice coming from the organization.

I think people just prefer a different voice.

I also agree with those who think it should expand to the players.

Jerry knows what the pathetic media is all about ...

Good move. Limit talking to league mandated events and screw the rest of it.

Well, it better be! Why do you think the Cowboys (or the 49'ers/eagles) did not win a SuperBowl with Owens yet?

It's simple...because those dumb arses did not use him right!

Oh, and Romo, Garrett, and the rest of the idiots should listen up! Let the man tell it like it is!

I disagree with you on two things. The 9ers used T.O. right, they just did not have other players that were good to put on the field with him.

The eagles used him right, and got to the Superbowl, should have won it, but Mcflabby could not get out of his own way.

The Cowboys have yet to use T.O. the right way, there is 13/14 yrs of film on this guy, how easy can it be see how this guy became a superstar WR.

I'm surprised it took as many responses as it did for someone to make this about TO and how it's only there to keep the coaches from giving a differing opinion on TO.

Having one voice come from the organization is only comforting if that voice hasn't ordered others to stay quiet.

Smart on Jerrys part because it would probably be a disaster to hear what the others are thinking. At the same time its sad that he actually had to do it. Instead of getting the staff on the same page, Jerry just tells them all to read their own book silently.

I shouldnt get into this because I already know the responses, but why exactly do you think jerry is pretending for the moment to have a ban on the media?

You think its to make sure no one leaks info about Wittens offseason workouts? Is it about resigning canty or burnett? Is it about austin? Is it about romos sex life?

of course not. Its all about one thing. Keeping the opinions on owens inhouse. He is the only one that could command this kind of nonsense.

Jerry is just laughable with this. Wait till he has to sell tickets or promote a reality tv show, or hard knocks part 3, or training camp events...he will be running to the media every two seconds like he always has.

People acting like this is the same as what parcells did clearly didnt pay attention. The players couldnt go around saying stuff about all the coaches and their teammates every week and the assitants couldnt talk at all essentially.

Jerry is doing this for the time being because he is trying to fix a problem. This isnt a philosophical change.

The group of people that are in charge here are excuse making two faced people.

The guy who said everyone was on eggshells and then immediately turned the franchise into a circus again doesnt have the right to say no one can talk. The fact that the head coach cant talk is baffling. This should be a verdict issued by the head coach, in February of 07, but back then it was happy time. How fast his teams go to the playoffs and how many sacks they get.

Now these guys have to answer for their hype machine and their carefree ways and they are hiding behind this silly nonsensical idea.

You cant be the group that enables troubled players, welcomes in reality shows, hosts business meetings on the side of the field during practice, has the cheerleaders get off the plane first at training camp, has the cheerleaders reality show, allows almost all players to have radio/tv shows to say we are not talking to you.

Its ridiculous. It wont last and as soon as jerry and wade have something to stick their chest out about they will be as happy as can be to go on every radio show and tv show and talk about what a good job their doing. In the meantime they will just hide behind this nonsense so they dont have to answer for their shortcomings.

Ridiculous.

You know maybe, just maybe, Jerry has seen the feeding frenzy that occurs everytime TO's name comes up and has also seen the out and out lies that they are willing to tell and has decided that it is probably in their best interest to let it go for now.

This is a great move by the organization. Unfortunately, the philosophical move wasn't presented to the media and the team by the head coach. Everyone will assume that any discipline dished out in violation of the new directive will not come from the head coach, but from the general manager.

That neuters a head coach's authority in my opinion. It creates the opportunity for the level of discipline levied onto violators to be different from what the head coach himself would have agreed upon. That's a good thing if the head coach is unwilling to be tough enough with a violator, but it's a bad thing if the head coach believes that the punishment dispensed isn't tough enough.

However, what's done is done. The "policy" is out there now and I doubt that it covers coaches only. It's doubtful that coaches will violate the policy. Likewise it's more doubtful that the vast majority of the players will do so. Not only does this sets up players being disciplined by Jones, but also presents scenarios of players unwilling to fully accept their punishment and what how they could react privately and/or publicly afterwards.

Should be interesting.

What I hate about Phillips is that he's such a nice guy, he can't even be tough and just say, "I don't want to talk to you right now." or "I have nothing to say.", instead he punks out and says, "It's against the rules." essentially passing the blame onto someone else.

Holy crap man, get some testicles.

And yet again, we're going to make this about T.O.? You think T.O. is the reason they aren't talking to the media? Please.

well if the reason behind the silence is to plug up leaks, and most of the leaks have involved TO's name...
