Good job, Jerry. Let's blame this awful, disastrous season on the media now. Normally I would be in favor of a media shutdown, like what Parcells did when he was here. But this move strikes me as being punitive and vindictive in nature, and a blatant attempt to divert blame. It also strikes me as a panic move by an owner and HC who don't have any answers, don't have a plan, and certainly don't appear to know what they're doing. None, zippo, zilch, de nada. And after such a disastrous season, appearances are everything
The chain of blame as I see it, is, first comes Jerry, then comes Phillips, then comes the players in the baby carriage. The media? Well, I just don't see them in that chain. Yeah, sure, a lot of reporters carry pitchforks and make up stories to drum up publicity and then write crap about the team. Sure, journalistic integrity is pretty much non-existent. Hence shutting down the pipeline would normally be a good idea. But not in these circumstances.
It's way too sudden, and certainly not well thought out, considering the players and the paying fans need reassurance and more complete answers other than the mumbo jumbo one's Jerry's spewing out. Well, at least I need reassurance and better answers after spending a ton of money to watch the rise and then horrid fall of a super bowl bound team during the season. Not to mention, how much I paid to watch a completely unprepared team get blown right out of the playoffs in the last game, with a healthy set of players to boot.
So, my apologies in advance, Jerry, but I paid too much money last year to want to pony up more to watch this team fall on their keesters again in 2009 with the same crew at the helm. Unless there are drastic changes, I'll be watching da boyz from my couch.
