Everyone will assume that any discipline dished out in violation of the new directive will not come from the head coach, but from the general manager.
That neuters a head coach's authority in my opinion. It creates the opportunity for the level of discipline levied onto violators to be different from what the head coach himself would have agreed upon. That's a good thing if the head coach is unwilling to be tough enough with a violator, but it's a bad thing if the head coach believes that the punishment dispensed isn't tough enough.
However, what's done is done. The "policy" is out there now and I doubt that it covers coaches only. It's doubtful that coaches will violate the policy. Likewise it's more doubtful that the vast majority of the players will do so. Not only does this sets up players being disciplined by Jones, but also presents scenarios of players unwilling to fully accept their punishment and what how they could react privately and/or publicly afterwards.
Should be interesting.
my only qualm lies with the timing
now after discord in the roster has been leaked, is there now a shut-door policy in regards to talking to the media? sounds pretty lame
