It's one thing for them to go after players. It's another to go after the talent that scouts those players.

I think Gaine leaving is just as big a blow as Ireland.

You almost have to let them walk. You don't want disgruntled employees on your team. I don't know that it was a matter of money as we know Jerry is not a tightwad in that regard.

You just gotta take stock of your staff and then go from there.

I'm quite sure every move will be an upward move and a person can't begrudge them that.

All I know is if Jerry comes out (like he did after Ireland left) and intimates, "it's OK, we didn't need him. We won't be replacing him either.," then I will really start to fret.

Again, the scouting staff helped us to get where we are now, and a poorly designed replacement staff can help to slowly rip us apart.

I SO fear returning to the drafts of the mid to late 90's (and '00 too).

Yep. That's exactly my point. The article doesn't suggest what his role will be, but I hope it's upward and not some lateral. That would be a kick in the face if so.

Ha! I don't know that it was ever an option. Parcells needed a year to recharge. You can't take a leave of absence when you're on someone's payroll.
