Sorry Jennifer it's not you near the front of the Red bandwagon. I'm driving the bus.

And any of you haters best just get out of my way. I'm coming through!

No. Payton knows how to use efficiently use his RBs, his WRs, his TEs.... Garrett's got a lot to learn.

Oh really, EPL0c0? As a football guru why don't you enlighten us about what it means to "efficiently use his RBs, WRs and TEs?"

I think he is hamstringed with certain players because of ownership.

I would like to think that if he had his way Roy Williams would not be the starter nor would Marion Barber right now.

Yup. I think you can take that to the bank.

We shall see... I think Garrett does a lot of nice things with the Dallas offense but he has more than his fair share of "what the hell was he thinking" moments too.

I think its fine to objectively conclude that Barber's contribution is no longer worthy of his contract and that renegotiation or release might be in order. I understand that perspective.

What I don't share is a perspective that suggests Marion has been anything but a true warrior for this team either when he quietly waited behind Julius or when he became a starter and played with abandon to the detriment of his own health or even after sustaining injuries that at times he chose to play when frankly he maybe should have sat.

I have deep appreciation for what MB3 has been to this team. Not many guys (maybe Romo) have been simultaneously criticized for not playing and for playing. In each case suggesting that he was being selfish. I think MB# is anything but. Just my opinion.

Barber is "full-of-it" in his own way and it is pretty obvious. That is not to say that he isn't a good teammate or a team player.

The problem isn't Marion but Marion and his agent made Jerry fold and ultimately made him a liability on this team. Since he is a potential liability financially his ongoing presence on the team has to be questioned.

If there is no salary cap and Jerry has no issues giving up his money then I think Barber is an okay backup at this stage of his career and can go back to playing a specialty role - mostly 4th quarter.

I do think people here can be ridiculously hard on Garrett. But I don't give much credibility to those folks who poo-poo Garrett's lack of experience but at the same time consider themselves fully qualified to provide definitive critique from their couch. Sure, share an opinion. But couch it in a little humility just in case (*gasp*) you could be wrong.
That's an absurd notion.

I can't run a 4.4 40 time, but I can criticize a corner back who runs a 4.6.

Sean Payton had nearly 20 years of coaching experience before he got a head coaching job. The comparison of Payton and Garrett is a bit premature.

Yes, and the Saints put up all of 6 points in the first half when the OL had trouble blocking Freeney before his ankle gave out.

That is impossible. I never gave up the wheel. I was the guy touting Garrett while he was still Miami Dolphin property and even back when he was still playing.

The article states Wade ignores the offense.

Wade stated last offseason he wanted the running game to improve.

Went from 27th to 7th.

So what? Everyone knows you ignore facts that don't fit your agenda.;)

That is so crazy.

That's the alpha male right there ... something you would see on Animal Planet. It's like watching some aging male animal physically exerting dominating authority over a young wanna-be.

Just one of the reasons that I never could really stomach Parcells. I was glad that Jones hired him, because I think they needed a coach of stature after the Campo years.

I just never liked the blowhard type of coaches.

I know Landry had his faults like everyone else, but growing up, I just saw him as the ideal head coach. And he is still my all time favorite.

Just don't hold it against those of us still standing on the corner waiting to see how it plays out.

I am very hopeful, but I must admit, I am still one of those with doubts about his greatness. Now or in the future.

The Saints came back from 10 down to win the SUPERBOWL by two scores, do you realize how ridiculous you sound making a statement like that?

Saying that someone is too slow is not in the same realm of evaluation as evaluating someones ability to coach. First of all you are talking about player evaluations versus coaching but moreso about physical evaluations versus mental.

Quite frankly if you want to go by numbers, Garrett goes as at worst better than average.

You can criticize whoever you wish. Doesn't make you qualified to do so.

And your illustration is what's absurd. Really? You're thinking that evaluating an OC is as simple as timing a CB?

You don't really believe that. You're just being hasty in trying to discredit my thought entirely because its what you do.

Whether it's as simple or not has nothing to do with the analogy. I can't run that fast. I can't coordinate an offense. I can't run a Fortune 500 company.

But I can point out obvious things, such as someone not having much experience, someone running slow, or someone driving a company's earnings into the ground.

I believe the criticism he was attacking was that Garrett lacked experience coaching. That's a pretty objective call there and has nothing to do with his coordinating abilities.

Sorry if you misunderstood the conversation.

I was pointing out that it is easy to look stupid as an OC when your OL is getting whipped on nearly every play (like ours was against the Vikings). It was not a critique of Payton at all or his job in the Superbowl.

I should have spelled out the anlalogy I was making more clearly in the first post.

Looks like a punch to me.:laugh2:

More like a chop.

In a world of say college football where you have to careful with that sort of thing, no coach in college would be fired for that...unless the school is looking to get out of their contract. But since it was made on national TV, even that wouldn't happen.

Still, it's clearly not a punch or at least I'd like to think somebody like Parcells could throw a better punch than that.

I was glad when we hired Parcells... as we needed discipline... and it worked for a couple of years...

I loved his PC's but soon came to realize he was bat-**** crazy...

That move was TOTALLY uncalled for...

I like the crusty old ballcoach, but he's just a lunatic...
