Cowboys coach Wade Phillips would be well within his rights to thumb his nose up at a few of his critics after leading the Cowboys to their first playoff win in 13 years and getting a two-year contract extension.

Phillips said that's just not him. However, it is not beyond Phillips take a little dig at the object of many of his critics' obsession (affection), his predecessor Bill Parcells.

Phillips said what frustrates him most is that people don't appreciate how hard it is to win games. They certainly don't appreciate how many games he has won in Dallas compared how things were before he got here.

Phillips has won 34 games and two division titles in three years as Cowboys coach. The Cowboys only won one division title from 1997 prior to his arrival in 2007.

"I take pride in that we won a lot of games," Phillips said. "People don't realize how hard it is to win games. They do if they look at the previous four years and the years before that. We won 34 games in three years. Bill (Parcells) won 34 in four years and previous one before that won 34 in six or eight. That's the only thing. I just don't think people realize how hard it is to win."

He speaks the truth and will get eaten alive because of those comments.

There's one very important game he needs to win!

Maybe because Parcells is regarded as one of the best coaches ever.

Like it or not, BP almost has Deity status. You can't deny that BPs resume and reputation takes a big steamy piss all over Wade's. There is no question.

Wade Phillips has nothing to compare to Parcells.

I've grown to like Wade in the past short while but he's a total nut in saying this.

Why is Wade a nut for saying what he said. He isn't saying Parcells is not a legend but he is saying he accomplished more than what Parcells was while being coach of the Dallas Cowboys and he should. **** Parcells. This dude made so many mistakes while he was here it is not even funny. He was a great coach before he got to Dallas but while he coached here he did a lot of things wrong.

Its not that he is saying it.

It's why he is saying it.

He's clearly trying to give himself a little boost. I suppose there's nothing wrong with that but it just sounds ridiculous. It's like claiming to be the offseason champions. Means nothing because if you take even a small look beyond the surface you will see so many things that are laughable.

So many mistakes? Like what? Just curious as to what would drive you to say "**** Parcells".

1. Bringing his old Giant's players in to help coach the Cowboys. He should have looked to some of the Cowboy greats that helped mold this franchise.

2. Turning Julius's running style into a very robotic style. Thus the immediate downfall.

3. Ryan Young anyone? How about Jacob Rogers?

4. Possibly waiting a season or more longer than he should have before realizing Tony Romo had something that Bledsoe and the others didn't.

5. For having one foot in retirement and one foot in the HC office for his last couple of years here. We weren't sure if he was energized enough to continue. Yeah I'll say it, he basically quit on the Cowboys in my opinion.

But who cares about all that, it was Bill Parcells. A living legend.

Wade deserves some credit. And if he wants to very subtley give himself some, then by all means.

You're criticizing the guy because he brought people he knew with him instead of opting of the sentimental fan choice?

Wow.

2. Turning Julius's running style into a very robotic style. Thus the immediate downfall.

This is a joke if there ever was one. How come Julius is still the same although he has been in Seattle for a couple of seasons? Is Bill that much of a mind-**** that you can't ever shake him once his teeth are sunk in?

3. Ryan Young anyone? How about Jacob Rogers?

God forbid he have a few players that don't turn out to be Jason Witten, Terrence Newman, Patrick Crayton, Tony Romo, Jay Ratliff, Demarcus Ware or Bradie James.

Damn you BP!

OL wasn't good for BP but when you look at the whole picture, his talent acquisition was pretty damn good for this team.

4. Possibly waiting a season or more longer than he should have before realizing Tony Romo had something that Bledsoe and the others didn't.

Its always easy to say this after the fact. Bledsoe was better than the others. Great QBs aren't easy to find. I suppose you could say he waited a little too long but an entire season? Please.

5. For having one foot in retirement and one foot in the HC office for his last couple of years here. We weren't sure if he was energized enough to continue. Yeah I'll say it, he basically quit on the Cowboys in my opinion.

I agree with this. I think he bailed a little soon but that's his choice. Everyone knew what he was going to bring and everyone should have known it would be short-lived. Do I wish he should have stayed around another year? Yes.

But I'm not going to let that be something that makes me piss on the man and make **** up to throw at him. You can if you like.

But who cares about all that, it was Bill Parcells. A living legend.

Sure, Wade deserves his due but trying to prop yourself up by hyping yourself over BP isn't the way to go. At least not until you win a Superbowl or two.

If there's one thing I wish Wade would stop it would be all the justifying he tries to do. It just looks weak to constantly have to cherry pick in order to make an argument for yourself.

Come back when you've won a Super Bowl tubby.

Until then you haven't won anything of value that Parcells hasn't.

Wade the HC here >>> Parcells the HC here. Parcells the front office man here had a huge impact.

We didnt get the Parcells of the Giants, we got a burn out.

And he had to totaly rebuild a team. He had to develop the QB Phillips is riding.
Phillips walked in to ten times the better situation than Parcells did.

Unless fans are satisfied with two blow outs in Phillips two most important games as Cowboys HC, he hasn't done a thing in Dallas either.

Wade Phillips and Bill Parcells should not ever be the same sentence or even paragraph. Hell, they shouldn't be in the same damn article.

Wade comparing himself to BP is beyond ridiculous. It reminds me of all the ******* things he says at his pressers after a loss.... like the bye week in 2007 was the same as a WC Playoff win. Get real Wade. Your legacy is pathetic.

Once again from NFL.com on Julius at Notre Dame:

Not really a self-motivated player and does not take well to hard coaching … Is just a little too lazy digesting the playbook … Has adequate power, but not enough to take on defenders one-on-one … Not mentally tough, letting minor injuries linger … Just used on screens, as he is a marginal route runner who looks late for the ball … Needs to protect the ball better and show better anticipation for contact … Will sometimes run up the back of the offensive lineman, but has enough pick-and-slide agility to gain yards inside … Prone to go down from the initial tackle, especially when defenders attack his feet … Has good foot quickness and change-of-direction agility, but is not sudden off cuts, gathering himself before accelerating.

Don't forget, Parcells "ruined" Drew Henson too!

I want Wade as the coach, but he is over-hyping his worth when comparing his record vs. BP.

First BP was reworking the whole system in Dallas and acquiring the players during his tenure.Wade has not had the "project" of molding this team from scratch.

The core players for Wade were in place for him and he has done a good job in building off them. It is a little easier to win games when you walk into a HC job with as many pieces Wade had in place. BP had Vinny Testicle and QC on DL quarterbacking the team.

"I don't think you guys realize how hard it is to win....*sniffle, sniffle*" ok, Teddy Ruxspin, we'll take it easy on you.

This is a poor attempt by Wade to razzle-dazzle everyone with his regular season statistics in order to deflect from the fact that he hasn't done what he was brought here to do.
