FWST: Ray Sherman on Ogletree

O-Tree has shown a lot of promise, but I'm not ready to throw him to the wolves yet. I hope to see him get around 10 snaps a game this coming year, then challenge for a starting spot the year after. He may not win the starting spot opposite Austin, but I hope he at least makes a competition out of it.

He was getting there this year. He is far ahead of Miles at the same point in their careers. Miles could only run back KOS in his rookie year. He is actually close to 3rd year Miles as he started to make some plays at important part of games and was run out there a fair bit at the end of the year.

Given that players usually make their biggest improvement from year one to year two, I look for Otree to surpass RW before the year is through. It may not be by the end of preseason but it will happen. This doesn't necessarily guarantee that he will be starting ahead of Roy, just that he will be playing better. He may have to wait until 2011 for a legit shot to be the starter.

Too bad the coaches don't say what "Earn it" entails.....I guess an injury and a great day "Earns" you something, huh?

Perhaps "Earn" means how much they are making?

Plenty of people wanted Austin to start prior to this year....were they wrong? Nope.

Plenty of people can PLAINLY see that Felix is better than MBIII....were they wrong? Nope.

Just because a coach "coaches" a player doesn't mean squat in a business....money rules all and when a player is "earning" as much money as he is, THAT gets them a starting spot on the roster....go ahead and say it doesn't, and you are blind.

Is this to say that O-Tree should be starting? I'm not on that bandwagon as of yet, but I'm not blind enough to see that Salary DOES play a role....and oh, yeah, JJ said as much the other day when he said that salary DOES play a role. Go back and watch/listen to some of the interviews with him.

Just sick of coaches saying they need to "earn" it, when they won't put hem on the field.....

I mean if Tashard Choice can do what he did last year against 3 of the best defenses in the NFL and that earns him just a couple of snaps a game, what does that say? I can tell you....if you'd JUST look at the salaries of those in front of him.

Follow the money....that should be EVERYBODY'S mantra....and NOT just in sports.

Sports....just a business....
