Checking cellphones in the locker room is not just confined to the University of Texas’ football team.

Dez Bryant was on his phone moments after the Cowboys’ latest loss to see what the world was saying about him this time in his first game back since Week 1.

In this case, a video clip of Dez was there for the world to see —apparently, maybe saying “That’s what you get!” while Seattle Seahawks receiver Ricardo Lockette lay motionless on the field near the end of the first half after a brutal hit.

I had seen the video before walking into the locker room after the Cowboys’ 13-12 loss against the Seahawks and thought the headline did not conclusively match the video. I also acknowledge the clip looks slightly terrible.

Before any member of the media could or tried to ask Dez a question, he went Beast Mode on us scum in the evil press.

This man has been vilified for no reason. Can Dez come off a bit immature at times? Absolutely. But that doesn't make him some terrible person. For some they have been waiting years for something anything to say see I told you so! But sadly for them it hasn't happened and it won't happen, Dez has a good heart and a good from what I can see. He seems to be a very generous person and always has his teammates back. It's frustrating to see the hate he gets even by our own fans why? Because this is a guy who would lay it all out for the franchise, I can't understand why our fans hate on that. Anyways I'm glad Dez is back and I'm glad he will be a Cowboy for life. So let the haters keep on hating 88

Any incident gets blown out of proportion because its the Cowboys and some websites probably stay open because of their Cowboys click bait headlines. I expect to see PFT and ESPN both having articles saying how Dez was celebrating someone getting knocked out and jawing at the man that's down. That's just how the media treats him with no good reason at all.

I hate how this is going to turn into a huge story, but... Hell yeah, Dez.

Nothing annoys me more (currently in football)than the national perception of Dez Bryant.

And it's because of stuff like this that ultimately proves to be innocuous-- but nobody remembers that. As soon as it's an allegation, it's truth.

The media treats Dez really poorly. It's kinda pathetic.

Mac Engel sucks, too, though not necessarily for this piece.
Can't stand Mac Engel.

I don't read much of his stuff, but he's a guest on the Fan's terrible morning show every week. He just seems so out of touch with his thoughts in general and it seems like he resents the athletes that he covers out of jealousy or something.

Rarely has anything nice to say about the personalities he covers and on more than one occasion he's shown annoyance with players being able to make millions by playing a game well.

Here's the guy trying to characterize Dez for saying 'this is what you get' when that's obviously not what he said at all.

Well...you said it Mac, not me. In fact, why don't you prove that you guys and gals were not going to insinuate that about Dez. Oh wait, you can't because it's been plastered everywhere that Dez was celebrating Lockett's injury all because Michael Bennett was furious. Or the fact that none of this outrage occurred when Sean Lee was brutally blindsided in a far worse looking hit by Golden Tate a few years ago.

Dez might never work for NASA,

Neither will you, Mac. You're a sports writer which is not exactly rocket science.

He brings some of this on himself with the occasional immature outburst

Really?

Did he 'bring it on himself' when the media was claiming he was calling out his teammates in the 2013 loss to Detroit? Remember, NFL films had him mic'd up and he was actually encouraging his teammates.

And did he 'bring it on himself' when the media claimed that there was a tape out there that was worse than the Ray Rice tape and that tape never existed (and one could reasonably conclude that it cost Dez millions of dollars that this false rumor was out there)?

How about YOU and the rest of your brainless dopes in the media bring on YOURSELF with your false reporting, reporting rumors as fact and getting to the point where you rarely substantiate any of your reporting? Maybe the problem is not Dez and it's yourself.

Dez then proceeded to go into a loud, massive tirade against the media, and that he professed never to talk to us Godless losers again. It was just hot air.

Again, he didn't call you losers...you did. Which tells me that you know that your profession has sunken pretty low.

I wish Dez would stop talking to you losers, but you losers will then complain to the league office to get him fined if he stops talking to you. So, don't act like you're holier than thou and never contradict yourself.

Seems about right. Since we are not winning, they need cowboy turmoil to boost their ratings. I bet they keep 3 camera angles pointed towards the sidelines just waiting for something.

You can clearly see he was yelling for them to get the Seattle player who were starting crap back to their sideline. Saw the video and Dez yells, "Get your f---ing players back, let's go," it was not even close to the quote they are saying.

Completely agree. I have thought the same. For whatever reason, some people want to create situations that simply don't exist with him. Sometimes, I wish I were a media member just so I could cite "sources" or just plain make up crap about certain members of the media...give them a dose of their own medicine. Dez is a good kid who has good intentions and tries hard to be the best person he can be. For everything he has overcome in his life to get to where he is, you would think he would get some credit. It's just the opposite. Truly sad, in a way. On the bright side, I think there are a lot of people out there that see him in a positive light, and see the media for what they truly are.
