Twitter: Gallimore talks about Cowboys struggles against the run

I feel like it's more of a player problem than scheme. That Seattle D he ran had no issues stopping the run

How they respond against a tough Vikings team will go a long ways towards determining what we are going to be this year.

We are about to either get right or fall apart.

The schedule is perfect for a defensive collapse vs the run games of Minny and NY.

Let's see this sound, assignment based football they been talking about.

Spot on??? He said nothing. It's as if he doesn't even have a clue as to what they are or aren't doing wrong. Might as well just regurgitate the whole work hard and give it 110% BS

Great defenses routinely go through multi-game lapses and surrender enormous rushing yard games. After being throughly embarrassed a light suddenly comes on. They have an epiphany and realize that details really do matter. Finally, the immense talent join forces, knowing they have allowed inferiors to shine over them and true domination ensues.

It can happen...

I heard plenty of delusion. We don't have the players at DT. I was hoping that Hankins would make a difference. Guess not.
Our DTs are bad and have been for years.
You can polish that turd all day with better execution, but it will still be a turd.
This is not complicated.

That's close to what I was going to say!!!! He said nothing!!!!

Good challenge for Quinn this week I'm sure hes up to the task.

He's improved so much that he played 8 snaps the other night.

In 8 games he has 7 total tackles and one really ignorant penalty that helped cost his team a game.

Don't think he's being missed at all.
This player should never have been exposed in the first place and that is squarely on the Jones boys expertise in all things football.

Dude, you can find about 20 or 25 guys just like him every year in the draft on day three.

There is absolutely nothing special about him at all.

exactly
This team is full of talkers like their owner and their QB
All talk and no results

He is saying all the right things but he has not addressed the problem, IMO. If after all this time they are still not on the same page there is a bigger problem.

I do think it is a lack of discipline. Gap control is horrendous with this team. Shedding blocks is a problem for some of them too. But there has been one constant in their problem defending the run. Teams are pulling to the left and getting more blockers at the point of attack than defenders to stop the run. There is no containment.

Some of the video posted shows that the two DTs are not getting moved off the ball and taking on double teams. Where is the LB? He's either taking himself out of the play by picking the wrong gap or he is too slow to see the play develop and can't get into the gap before the lead blockers and RBs are through already.

The truth is this team has had trouble stopping the run all year. They struggled stopping Tampa Bay who hasn't been able to run on anyone since then. The difference is now teams are focusing on running the football and taking advantage of the Cowboys weakness. It is going to get worse because teams saw Green Bay come back from a 14 point deficit in the 4th quarter by running the football.

Having said that, I think the Vikings will come out throwing it. The will give the Cowboys a more balanced look, especially if two CBs are out.

Lack of talent. JAGs don't form a good DLine. Studs do.

Hankins is one piece that was needed. We don't have a starter quality UT.

Frankly Parson called out his teammates for being selfish and the response has been guys like Gallimore and Kearse acknowledging pretty much the same. These guys know it needs to be fixed or else as Parson said teams will continue to do so. You may not want to hear it but frankly the message is directed towards these men on defense, not fans.
