I don't like stinking it up either and I do think this cap hell thing is overblown but in the scenario previously mentioned that would mean we would have the top pick most likely 2 years in a row cause we traded Romo for the Texans # 1 pick.

Then of course we would stink it up so badly without him and having to absorb $41 million accelerated into this years cap, that 30 of our 53 man roster would prob be on 1 year vet minimum salary contracts.

Then we absorbed all the bad contracts, have 2 new 1st overall picks to go along with this years 1st and this years and next years 2nds with the bundles of cap space.

Plus a young QB playing on a rookie contract.

So is it worth stinking this year for all of that or not now?

I see where you'r going. Having two overall number 1's would be nice. And we would most likely have a ton of cap space when it's all said and done, but now you're trying to put together a significant part of your team through FA, which works out to a point, but rarely like you think it would, and you typically end up overpaying. If all we needed was a good QB, like the Colts did, then getting an Andrew Luck type would be great, but we would have to decimate our roster so much, that we'd have to replace a lot of spots with quality players. You could argue we need to do that anyway. But I'm just not one for completely wanting to blow things up. Don't know if I trust our FO to be able to rebuild it.

Unless JM plays Defense this thread is a joke. Yea let JM come out and throw for 5 tds and we still end up losing. I wonder how fast people would come after his head on this board. smh

Cowboys should trade Romo, draft Manziel

With the always overblown Scouting Combine now done with, and even with the NFL Draft still two months away, it’s never too early to scheme and scam on behalf of our troubled local football club.

Who knows? Mr. Jerry might be actually reading this stuff. My ideas, and yours, are as good as his track record when it comes to evaluating talent.

So here’s a grand plan:

Trade Tony Romo to the Houston Texans for the first pick in the draft.

Use that pick to draft, yes, Johnny Football.

Stop it right now with your dog-cussing. You can’t bully me.

The front office should just do their homework and draft a QB in the 2nd or 3rd and hope for the best. The Johnny Football talk is just that....Talk. I don't care when they draft a QB but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if they done it with 16. There are other needs but if you think Romo is about done, like me, you should get a good prospect now.......

Why would the Texans trade the first overall pick for 34 yr old, bad back Tony Romo?

Randy is getting old for sports talk. We should trade him to New York.

Quick. Someone tell Galloway that applying Grecian Formula to your mustache is not good for your brain in the long run.

Romo had the final call. And he used it.

Tony had more power in that area than both Garrett and Callahan. Jerry gave Tony that power. Last week, Jerry told us Tony would have more power next season than even last season. Stupid, but true.

I wish I weren't a life long fan of this team. ROOTING against this regime next season just became a little easier!

"The latest word from Jerry was Jason has been demoted for the 2014 season to “defensive” observer."

ROTFLMAO...................Jason "defensive observer" Garrett....................................firing the guy would have been more respectful than this public neutering.

Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys are married to each other for the next 3 years.

Its that simple.

You can discuss this until this thread is 100 pages deep.

But it will not change the fact that Romo will be the QB for this team for the next 3 years. Barring injury.

Nothing wrong with that in my opinion.

Aaron Murray will take over in due time. :)

My guess is that the trade would have to be Romo AND our 2nd (or even 1st) rounder.
No thanks.
But if you feel sure he'll be a star, then that price would actually be worth it. I just don't have that level of confidence right now.

It's amazing to see how broad the range of opinions are regarding Manziel. There was a fairly large write-up in the Dallas Morning News last week about an old scout who was always a Manziel fan even back in HS. This guy was the most over-the-top on the upside. He said Manziel would be Hall of Fame legend...one the greatest to ever play in the NFL. But he kind of has some skin in the game due his long-standing opinions.

Then, on the other hand, I've now heard 3 different "analysts" say they would not touch him until the 3rd round.

I just can't see him totally failing, but I have no strong opinion on how good he'll be either.
He sure is fun to watch though!

In the end, I can't recall a player that I looked forward more to seeing how things turn out at the next level.

So before everyone rails on this, think about this aspect.

What if you could get their first for Romo and a second?

Meaning Dallas still has the 15th pick in the first along with the first overall.

Just a thought.

I was driving in to work today and Mike and Mike were going over a list of questions that they would answer and reply yes or no to.

This very question came up, "if offered, should Dallas give up Romo for Manziel at the #1 pick"?.

They both said NO immediately...and even said it was a no brainer. Kind of surprised me given both are kind of neutral regarding Romo.
I assumed that odds are it had more to with their lack of confidence in Manziel--which may be true.. This question was specific to Manziel, no just eh 31 overall pick.

But then they said this" Romo is a very good QB for a very mediocre team. We looked it up, and get this....in losing games last year, Romo had 17 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions. Impossible, but true".

Funny how whenever people actually have to look a little closer at the Dallas situation, they come away shocked t how good Romo really is.
I mean, how is it even possible to lose that many games when your QB has 17 TDs and only 3 picks?

I think 2nd or 3rd is a bit high with the restructure of Romo.

They probably restructure next year and lock him in through 2016.

Can't have a 2nd or 3rd rounder on the bench for 3 years on a 4 year deal.

I don't think Romo has 3 years left....I think his play diminishes to where they don't have a choice..

Well you might as well be throwing that QB to the wolves then because it would probably take a lot of freeing up to overcome the dead money.
