He doomed himself with that interview where he was happy being the third receiver and didn't want anything else.

You don't go into your annual review and tell your boss you are content where you are at.
Some of you people will cry about anything.

That comment - wherever it was - is a total nothingburger.

NFL Trades are at least half based on cap hits. A team could trade for Gallup and only pay him $2.4M this year (base plus game bonus) and then if he is the player he was/was supposed to be they can keep him for $9.5M the next year (base plus game bonus) or cut him with zero cap hit. Because of this Gallup definitely has value in a trade. But, the flip side is if we trade Gallup we still have a $4.4M cap hit this year and a $13M dead money cap hit next year and no restructure can reduce this and it can't be passed on to another team. So, it's just not going to happen and that's ignoring the fact that he is expected to help us this year and if he is the guy he was pre-injury he absolutely will. If we trade him next year the hit would be $4.4M next year and then $8.7M in dead money in 2025. Maybe a little more palatable.

Your bottom four there have 3 catches for 21 yards
Holla at me at the end of the season. And we'll see how much production they have then. Even if Gallop isn't traded. These men will compete and produce results. Each one if them. Again, no disrespect to Michael Gallop.

Yeah it's ok to have one or two people with no ambition, as long as they're content doing their little piece of work.

I mean....if you owned a janitorial or lawn care service...do you want all ur toilet scrubbers and weed yankers coming to you saying they want to be a manager? Nope...u want them to shut up, leave u alone, and scrub them toilets quietly for minimum wage!
A mix is good.
You’re trying to make an argument why fans for other teams pose as fans of Americas Team?

I disagree. You serve only the purpose of being mocked about that sad fact. ;)

why post this? This is absolute click bait crap. Not once has anyone associated with Dallas mentioned this. Tolbert "Emerging," in camp all of the sudden means he is a breakout player? They traded for Cooks had not much to do with Gallup. His last season and his salary mean nobody is trading for him.

This garbage is just crap and anyone posting about how sure, if we could get this or that lets do it is clueless.

Hey, why dont we trade Alcaron for Chris Jones.... sounds good.

We could also possibly find a weatherman in Dallas who could somehow forecast cool temps the rest of August. But that’s about as likely as what the author of this article is suggesting.

I think MG is a really good receiver. I would not hang my hat on Tolbert yet. If we could trade him for a solid OL starter I would think that would need to be a consideration.

Funny how last season changed everyone’s opinion of Gallup. Everyone is dumping on him because he didn’t return to form last season. I said he likely wouldn’t have a very good season, after rehabbing an injury all summer and missing the first few games of the regular season. He should be better this season, and we need him as insurance in case of injuries. However, with the development of Jalen Tolbert, and with Jalen Brooks having a real good camp, the Cowboys could possibly explore a trade for Gallop.
It wasn’t just last year…he had already turned into nothing but a vertical sideline route runner….never used the other 80% of the field.

To rid of his salary is good enough reason…he is done!
sure... and if he is so horrible and he is getting way too much money, you think every team is so dumb to take his salary?

No, we need to see if he can come back from the knee and look like he did prior to the injury.

While I’m encouraged by Tolbert’s development, he’s been doing most of his pre-season game work against a ton of guys who won’t be on an NFL roster in mid-September. I really like Tolbert but let’s tap the brakes on the idea he’s ready to step into Gallup’s role and production. I think that’s speculative at best.

I will say that I was on the Tolbert train a bit late in the season from some practice videos but they were desperate and he didn’t show up at all.

Got to see him in this offense a year removed from the injury with Lamb and Cook on the field and away from the Kellen Moore route tree, could be a top tier trio. This trade makes no sense.
