Gallup got paid after an injury, will we do the same for Pollard?

We saw the injury to Gallup and how limited he seemed this past season. Do we keep this in mind when assessing whether to keep Pollard or not?? Give your thoughts please...
Gallup will be much better this season. That’s how these injuries work. But will it be enough to justify salary. Remains to be seen.

And you will love the taste of it once Zeke leads the NFL in rushing yards for 2023 season. Under the new great offense with MM.

Don't take this serious...as some will....
:lmao::laugh::laugh::laugh::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

You jest…….but honestly….this is how you have been talking about zeke for 3 or 4 years now and it’s been completely laughable. At least you finally realize how ridiculous you sound.

Man up……..you were dead wrong.

Paid DLaw when he was injured and look at the return on investment
Drafted then paid Jaylon Smith and look at the return on investment
Paid Dak when he was injured and look at the return on investment
Paid Gallup when he was injured and look at the return on investment.
I think I posted something similar in another thread. They pay guys when they think they're value is low to get a "steal" and it doesn't work out for them. They do the same thing in the 2nd round with draft picks also.

Two different types of injuries, contracts and players
Gallup is a nice two and signed reasonable. I think most knew it would take a year for full recovery with his injury. But even pre injury Gallup is not a difference maker
Pollard is a true playmaker. We have only two serious playmakers on offense, him and Lamb. I want a 3rd but you can’t have 3 if you let him walk. I’d sign him but I think Jerry will tag him
Either way I think letting him walk really sets the offense back
I’d keep him, cut Zeke and try to add another WR in the draft

This. The Cowboys should draft two running backs and use the money for Zeke/Pollard for the defensive line and wide receiver positions.
Pollard walking saves no money at all. He’s not under contract
I’d cut Zeke and sign pollard because you don’t get better letting one of your top 2 playmakers. And really only playmakers on offense walk

Maybe I'm wrong, but if we cut Zeke we eat 11.8 mill (is this correct?), then you tag TP for 10 mill???? thats still 21 million at RB for the season thats criminal, let them both go and draft a couple RB's and use Davis with them.....What could i get in the trenches with that 10 mill that will be good for 4 seasons?? Look at the RB's comming out, you can get fast and explosive for way cheaper than 10 mill....And for god sake do not draft a 1st rd RB...

Yes he does. If Pollard gets tagged it will take up 10 million of the money the Cowboys free up with cuts and restructures. You draft two running backs from the 2nd through the 5th round and take your chances.

As a pre-June 1 cut, the Cowboys would save $4.86 million against the cap, ~$12 million in dead money. Post-June 1 cut would save ~$11 million on the cap and just $6 million dead cap.

thats better but still a ton of money, again i like TP but Zeke's contract kinda sealed his fate to me, 17 mill at RB would still be tops in the NFL at the RB position and I dont think TP can carry that kinda load.

They shouldn't. Pollard may end up being ok but they don't really know how to manage guys like pollard much less coming off a leg injury. Just ge the O line some help and draft or sign cheap free agents.

Pollard is the number 1 playmaker on this offense imo. He kicks it into a gear that nobody else on this roster currently can replicate. Cut zeke, draft his replacement, and tag pollard. A broken leg is not going to impact his performance like an acl tear does.

How did it work out , good for Gallup but not good for Cowboys, pre-injury Gallup was respectable Wr3. Bordering WR2 territory but the one who came in 2022 ( probably not ready) was not. But worse , he didn’t improve as season progressed. ( Like the interce against SF , Go figure)

RB is a much more contact position and takes more beating, we have to be very careful with Pollard. Cant afford any mistakes - like long term contract, rushing from injury and re-injuring or apprehensive and not full potential

Pollard's injury is not that bad and he is a special player for sure.

YES, to a long term deal would be my guess for this front office. Any other functioning organization would explore other options.
