Garrett’s inability to develop Dak is the most glaring

When Garrett was considered an 'offensive guru' by the dallas media, other people were laughing:

In 2012 this was printed:

"Ray Lewis and Ed Reed teed off on Jason Garrett after the last time the Ravens faced the Cowboys, ripping Garrett for running a predictable offense following Baltimore’s win that turned out the lights on Texas Stadium."

http://www.espn.com/blog/dallas/cow...edictable-ray-lewis-goes-p-c-on-jason-garrett

Garrett is a career killer, every team knows this; except old as dust Jerrah , it seems .

isnt that this man’s forte? Dak has regressed in every aspect of his game.

Jason Garrett was the luckiest man on earth when he met Antonio Ramiro Romo. It made him a very rich man.

If we are looking to replace Dak, we have to keep him away from JG

Reid, McVay, Shanahan, and Pederson would all struggle developing Dak.

In the NFL, some traits have to be there before they start to mold the QB

Garrett allowed Linehan to make Moore their QB coach.

A guy who had never coached a QB in his life.

Say it again. The Cowboys had a young QB who clearly needed some work after his 2017 season and they went out and hired a QB coach who had never been a coach before.

Easily one of the dumbest offseason moves made by this franchise. And a fireable offense IMO.

We’ll Garrett was handed a QB someone else developed (Romo) and now is responsible for developing one himself (Dak).

Garrett doesn’t come out looking good in either scenario.

But he hired Kellen Moore as QB coach!
Who could doubt that he will take Dak to the promised land?

The Kellen Moore hire is the most telling one in my opinion of the incompetence on the offensive side of the ball. You have THREE young qbs and you leave the task of improving these young quarterbacks up to a guy with ZERO coaching experience and who was beat out by the actual starting quarterback.

I’m sure it’s meabingless, but I always thought it was interesting how much Dak credited the QB room his rookie season. He credited Mark for a lot of help during the week, and it seemed like Romo for a lot of help on the sideline.

That input was so beneficial that we promptly cut ties with both, and brought in a rookie to share the QB room with Dak.

And this year? Another rookie. And a rookie QB Coach, to boot.

Hey, Dak might turn out terrible even if Peyton was his QB coach and let him borrow his right arm on game days. But this just seems like a terrible setup.

Fixing the presumed franchise QB after a half season of regression should have been the highest priority task. And we hired the water boy.

It was completely unserious.

I mean think about this offseason........ the offseason that the front office sold as an offseason to build an offense around him and a scheme that would be Dak friendly.

1) Hired a QB coach with no experience developing QBs.

2) Gave the QB arguably one of the worst TE groupings in the NFL.

3) Built a WR corps that is, at best, league average.

How anyone seems that a successful offseason to help Dak is beyond me.

I said this before. And I’ll say it again. What makes Garrett a bad coach is his unwillingness to alter his styles and philosophies to enhance the strengths of the roster. Especially the quarterbacks. He did it to Romo and now he’s doing it with Dak. Both mobile quarterbacks that he wanted to coach the athleticism out of. He prefers them to be what he wished to be. A stationary pocket passer. Romo started taking a beating after JG took over. The same is starting to happen with Dak. Why would we not run some read option plays today after they worked so well last week? Why isn’t Rod Smith in more when Zeke is cold? The frustrating part is that I do think we could be a better team if the coaching was better. Too many square pegs being forced into round holes.
