Garrett also inherited a Parcells built team. He was also here when Wade and Parcells was head coach. Thus its not like he inherited a bunch of scrubs. Nonetheless, we had a chance to get to playoffs during 3 straight years during Garrett's tenure. Thats all on Garrett and he failed on that part.

and cowboys offense had three top 10 finishes under wade and garrett as OC....but the defense under the guru wade, finished in the 20's every year....hmmm interesting

Its really simple. He had a better record than jg through 56 games. 2 nfc east titiles and 2 playoff appearences with our only playoff win in 18 years. Jg won less games. No nfc east titles. No playoff appearences. No playoff wins. 3 straight week 17 choke jobs vs nfc east teams. I don't see how people argue jg is better but carry on.

so I guess based on this logic Barry Switzer is a HOF coach?

I agree about Wade. He had to go because he did lose the team. Garrett has not lost the team but I honestly wish he had so we could have got rid of him and started in a new direction.

Jason has lost the fan base though. Predictable results and zero personality on the mic has turned everyone off. You can't be a terrible coach and act like a robot in press conferences because it just makes everyone think you have no idea what you're doing.

that's a pretty good assessment.

Everyone is missing the fact that Waddles was saddled with an intern as an offensive coordinator that was hired before he was. Ginger hasnt had to deal with near the handicap that Wade had.

funny, the intern managed to have three top 10 finishes, while the experienced guru finished in the 20s every year!!!! so who was handicapped again?

Yeah, how about the 17 points in the playoff game or the way the offense totally ran off the rails in 2008?

That's absolutely factually incorrect, but then Garrett fans seem to love make-believe land.

I said three out of the 4 years. and remember in 2008 we were 13th and that was because Romo got injured. I know injuries happen, but when your starting QB goes down...we saw what happened to Indy when Peyton was injured.

and wade couldn't crack the top 15 in 4 years.... and lets not forget his defense gave up two TDs in the last minute of each half against the giants. same giants playoff defense that gave up 17 to the all time best offense and a team that went 19-1.

Cowboys offense:
2007 - 3rd
2008 - 13th (romo injured)
2009 - 2nd
2010 - 7th

Cowboys defense
2007 - 24th
2008 - 25th
2009 - 24th
2010 - 10th -> through 8th games we were ranked in the 20's in the league and improved in the second half of the season.

so what's make believe?

Where in the world did you get those numbers? You obviously aren't using points or yards.

Please post a source. This should be good.

This discussion is sad.

When you have Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson in the family portrait, .. these two guys don't belong in the conversation.

We need a real NFL head coach, .. and soon.

We need pass defense. That's it.

That site doesn't have the numbers you posted, unless you're using some very obscure stat to try to make your argument look better.

It takes about two seconds to see the real ranks here.

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/dal/

see my other posts. I stand corrected.

NFL ranks are correct as well, I was clicking on the wrong column to rank.

both offense and defense finished in the top 10 except for 2009 because of Romo's injury offense was 13th.

although scoring wise the defense was middle of the league for the most part. but finished top 10 scoring in 2007 and 2010.

True but I'm still trying to figure out what the record of those 2 coaches after the same number of games as HC has to do with each other.

I hope it is that simple.

But there are always other intangibles that always seem to prevent us from winning.

Our team seems to lack grit, lack that killer instinct, no nasty attitude, .. they aren't clutch. Good football teams seem to carry a confidence that we lack.

Poor game decisions, .. it's always something.

I'm just not convinced that Garrett has what it takes. He hasn't demonstrated that he has it so far.

It may not be scientific, but it was just something that someone in the media threw out there for people to argue about.

What I take from it is neither of them are very good at being a Head Coach in the NFL.
