I was stating that I don't think Garrett floated it out there to save face or did it personally. It is just a convenient time for this to come out, that is all.

Well, it is the first day of training camp, and the first chance that Garrett has had to address it with the entire team. That sounds factual, not convenient.

Mike Fisher reports Garrett called out as many as 7 players in recent team meeting for Screw-Ups.

Goes with his mantra that he doesn't communicate via media he does it behind closed doors to the team.

Why he doesn't cut everyone that Screw-Ups? There are salary cap ramifications that I'm sure JJ and Stephen don't want to have to deal with and would rather Garrett try to "fix" them.

Blah. Blah blah. The same thing happens every year. No one seems to listen .

Good. They need to be called out for potentially letting down their teammates

This all day. Team sport like no other. Irving, Zeke, Lucky, all of these guys have at the least hurt their team. Look....You play football for 5-7 years on average. You make MILLIONS doing it. After 5-7 years take your money and do whatever you want with it. Until then, be a good teammate and focus on winning every year.

There are different levels of messing up (kid friendly) and like it or not there are different rules for the more valuable assets of the team. There is not a starter in the entire NFL of Zeke's caliber that is getting cut for shop lifting.

From Dez: "“I really don’t have that much room to talk. Everybody has their own little deal with how they handle things,” Dez said. “I’m not saying Lucky didn’t respect Coach Garrett’s demands. I think he tried to fulfill Coach Garrett’s needs as much as he possibly could, but you’ve got to understand the bigger picture. This team is bigger than one person and you’ve got to have yourself in check. You’ve got to have your priorities in check. Coach Garrett is a well-respected guy in this locker room. It’s not for the media to say. We love the way Coach Garrett goes about his business and we respect that. That’s why we want to play for him and why we want to win for him.”
Marvelous quote, Idgit! Thank you, sir.

The Garrett we see is not the Garrett the players see.

Thankfully, Garrett has no respect for the idiotic Cowboys fan base. And he shouldn't.

I think people want Rex Ryan who will yell about everything in press conferences and make Monday-Friday entertaining even though Sundays suck.

No (said in my most patient voice), no one wants a Rex Ryan.

People want a coach that means what he says and follows through on it so the players KNOW that they will be held accountable and disciplined if they do something wrong. People DONT want a coach who spouts cliches and does little else (in other words, a spineless jellyfish like Garrett)

I hope that clarifies things

It gets said, over and over and over, that he's a different guy when he's not in front of the cameras. And then when he's in front of the cameras, it's so easy to see where he's stonewalling questions to try to limit the effects of the Dallas circus on the team.

Yeah, it's boggling that people don't realize what sorts of things are handled behind closed doors and just assume that, if they don't hear about it, nothing was probably done at all.

You're part of the fanbase

I understand your point, and the exclamation you're trying to land, but geez, man, condescending much?

I mostly love him. He drives me a bit crazy sometimes with how flighty and high-strung he is, but he's a beast, and his heart is very definitely in the right place.

You hit the nail on the head :hammer: His heart is in the right place. He has matured alot during his time here, and he is fully invested in team first. He's becoming our modern day Michael Irvin, only without the criminal accusations.
