We know losing. We know inconsistency. We see blatant mistakes and lack of adjustments on gameday. We see time management faux pas over and over.
What do you see? Team management? Tell me how well that D is being managed.
What do you see? The players liking and respecting him? Yay.
I see dead people.

I have come to the realization that Garrett is Cowboys coach for life. At least Jerry's lifetime. I know it's not a surprise too most.

I would love to see Garrett really coach when things are looking down & coach this team to the playoffs.

Yep.

It's weird, because the players and staff and organization all seem to like him, but the fans can't stand him.

I wonder what we know that they all don't?

Love that guy. Him and his super gay brother who looks like he's absolutely his super gay brother. Cool cats. Other than that- I agree with the sentiment.

Colin looks like a good guy...definitely someone you would want to have a pint or two with.

He is until fans start hitting Jerry in the pocketbook. I just don't understand the obsession Jerry has with Garrett. We already wasted Romo's career and were blessed with another QB and look to be ruining another career so Garrett can keep on learning the game.

Link to the glory days. Garrett was here in the 90s and Jerry is loyal and nostalgic to a fault.

There are coaches who were well liked but just not very good coaches.

I have always been puzzled by this notion that because a guy is well liked, ergo, he's also really good.

Chuck Pagano is well liked too. How's he as a coach?

Why can't people simply accept the fact Jason Garrett can NOT coach and his inability to coach had nothing to do with Jerry Jones, who gave this guy the biggest leash ever, including allowing him to have his own brother John as TE coach, to promote him in one year as passing game coordinator as well. Jerry also fired one HOF coach in Wade Phillips and gave primacy to Red-Ginger over Bill Callahan, another HOF coach and the guy who built our strongest unit from ground up in the OL, causing him to be disgruntled and wanting bounce.

Garrett's father was a scout for Jerry when first came and when Jimmy left, he along with Lacewell formed the core and inner circle with Stephen Jones. It was probably this relationship that got Jason here as a QB in the first place after Dallas already won its championships. I believe it was Jason's father that claimed Drew Henson was the next Aikman. Lacewell and Garrett bounced once Parcells came and after Parcells retired, Jerry brought them back.

It's not just Jason, Judd Garrett another brother is the Director of Propl Scouting and John Garrett was another brother here, as TE coach and passing game coordinator. Jerry didn't fire him but saved his reputation and John said he was leaving to pursue oppurtunitues I believe in college. On the other hand, Jerry had no problems firing Skip Pete that same year straight up and other coaches as well.

A common misconception is that JG learned under Norm Turner, but he was only here one year with him I believe and wasn't even the backup until Kosae bounced. Jason was actually here through our coaching deterioration and through the messy years so claiming he learned from the great minds like Jimmy is absurd. Jimmy bounced, Turner was gone and we got guys like a washed up Zameer's.

The point being, it's not just Jason, it's the Garrett family. They had a video dedicated to Jason Garrett's father on the official Dallas Cowboys website a couple years back. I'm not sure if it's still there.

To your final point about Wade/Callahan, I sometimes wonder if coaches around the league do not respect Garrett because he did not put in the grunt work like they did and that makes it difficult for him to find competent assistant coaches.

Another coordinator is about to take the hit for the front office and garrett, which is marinelli. We'll be back in a few years complaining again why the next coordinator can't field a decent defense with mediocre players. This whole recent era has been awful to say the least. Sad to say that I'm slowly getting to the point that I don't even want to bother watching. At least other organizations have hope that if their coach stinks, he'll be replaced and maybe the new guy will rejuvenate the franchise like the rams head coach. On the other hand, we're stuck with this and there will be more smoke and mirrors to keep the show going.

Garrett is the Marvin Lewis of the NFC, only Garrett was never a Super Bowl winning star assistant. The similarities (record wise and owner relationship wise) are there.
