The most touches Foster has had is 390. Lynch 383, Murray had 450. Can we start listing the multitude of the guys other than Foster and Lynch who broke down after a workload like that?

can I bite? By the 1994 season are very own emmit smith had 1630 nfl carriers. he had 368 in 1994 for almost 1500 yards, 5th season went on the very next year to set the franchise record for yards with 378 carries. mind you, after that superbowl win he had 6 more back to back to back 1000 yard seasons..
.. demarco in his career has 945 rushing attempts, 685 less than emmit at the sametime in his career.

Who knows what Demarco is capable of, people also said AP career was over after the acl and he almost broke the nfl record for rushing the very next season after having what people call miles on the tred or to old for a running back...keep in mind ap still rushed for 1300 next season on a vikings squad that was 2-8 by week 10.

I still think that if we bring Murray back, we need to find a suitable backup. That's why I say if McFadden is cheap, sign him to a short term deal. He is very similar to Murray and has receiving abilities.

I think Randle took a big step, but he's more of a home run hitter late in the game.

Actually he had 497 TOUCHES...that includes receptions...

Oh. That's not the same imo. Carries... "Touches" can included 10 yard outs without being touched Which don't support any argument around physical punishment.

Can't trust Randle, we do need a backup.

It's not even just for injury concerns either. I want a legit RB that can take the load off of Murray for a bit, while still maintaining production. I would rather Murray get about 270-280 carries while a backup gets about a 100 carries. That would be ideal.

Sadly, I don't think this would be the plan. We'll most likely just run Murray into the ground via Larry Johnson style since RBs are viewed as replaceable in this league.

Good for Garrett.

By the way, is there anybody associated with the organization whose reputation has grown more than Jason Garrett's over the last twelve months? He'd have been mocked mercilessly for secretly meeting with a player he wanted but the team didn't want to overpay just last offseason. Now, it's either ignored, or seen for the asset it actually is.

Jones already said that they would remove some of the workload of Murray. I agree with you.

I wasn't pro or con, (well at first con:)) Didn't like him calling plays. But yeah he's grown on me. I'm impressed with the staff as a whole.

He took too long to solidify his defensive coaches, but, yeah, we've got a good staff right now.

And I didn't particularly meant to bait the Garrett question again. I just think it's interesting how completely the perception of him has changed after last season. That hot seat cooled off pretty quickly with the winning season and the extension.

I really like what Garrett did after taking over for wade midseason. It was like night and day, the difference in player effort.

And I like him in his first full season......he was a rookie!

But then I really started to sour a bit. I think we all did. And then when we blew that Detroit game, and then blew that lead against GB and just couldnt get past 8-8 with playoffs on the line....

I was wanting to clean house. Everything and everybody.....including JJ.

This year took a lot of pressure off of those guys....

And JG has changed...I see it in his mannerisms.....He has grown. We have a leader at Head Coach.

I like JG. I would be so happy if him, Romo, Witten......and even JJ could get a Super Bowl these next few years.... And if they do. JG has a long coaching career ahead of him. And I hope its right here with the Cowboys.....pushing into the playoffs for the next 10 -15 years! Build it.

Yeah because contact doesn't count if you start it.

Physics is physics.

The difference between the two is huge. Look at Walter Payton, he never shied away from contact because he was the one lowering his shoulder. Demarco does not take a ton of big hits.

Now we are comparing Murray to Walter Payton.

Also...very interesting. Apparently...running into a car is different than a car running into you.

The Cowboys will be drafting a RB in this deep RB class whether Murray signs or not.

They do not trust Randle and want to pace Murray if he is resigned, people need to do some research on these RB's in this draft.

Already have, and this "deep RB class" looks pretty typical to me. I don't even care for the top RBs in it.
