So, what were the biggest issues with the Cowboys’ defense Thursday?

“Uh, lets start from top to bottom: The discipline wasn’t very good, the gap control wasn’t very good, it wasn’t very physical, we didn’t tackle very well, we didn’t run to the ball well enough, we didn’t make enough plays,” Garrett said. “We made one play on the ball that was significant, but we didn’t make any plays that made a difference in the game.

“I thought we did a good job in the red zone a couple of times, forcing a turnover on the 1-yard line and forcing them to kick a field goal when they were inside the 5. there were some things that you can say, ‘That was alright,’ but for the most part across the board it wasn’t what we needed to be.”

It was Jason who sold Marinelli to Jerry.

Not firmly convinced of that at all. Marinelli came in tow with Kiffin. And I don't think even Kiffin was exclusively a Garrett recommendation.

At least he acknowledges the problems.

He stated the obvious. I guess that is now viewed as a plus.

I would be interested to see if this is how he passes a "message". He clearly was not pleased, but he pointed out what nobody can deny. There was horrible gap integrity and basically nobody aside from Dixon acted like they wanted to show up, play a football game and make a team.

I would prefer more of a stinging emotional commentary, but then again, I do not need a chip to process emotions.

I cannot wait for the Landry comparisons that are forth coming.

It's interesting. Garrett's usual press conferences are full of coach speak, yet this one was full of specifics and disappointment . I agree that he is sending a message to the team.

Well, it was a departure. He is usually intentionally vague. It will be interesting to see if they respond.

Aside from the BFF crowd, I have questions on how his messages carry very well.

tahts fine, IF IF we got marinelli because of Kiffen, if we did great, i have no problem with Marinelli, so far his DL is doing good with what he has, a lot of bums were here before Rod and company. And it was a new shceme, new this new that. Rod is fielding a new scheme again and im ok with that. The HC so far has been an embarrasment and lets not pretend, tho some will try, drafting isnt up to par yet. Its good, but some of these gus arent as good as people would like to think.
