Paving the way for Marinelli to be scapegoated. Well played.

are you kidding...its amazing how people spin things.....one they complain the defense sucked. when the coach sugar coats it, they all scream, just tell us the truth. when he tells the truth...they all complain....unbelievable...

everything he said was right and I am sure marinelli agrees with him.

I don't think anyone was paying attention to the score at all, but rather looking at the product on the field.

The penciled in starter at the 1T was routinely getting blown off his gap.
The 3T was someone that many thought would contribute, even though he was an undrafted rookie.
The RE, who was going to be a steady contributor, didn't do squat to quell any thoughts about his level of play prior to playing Dallas.
And the LE, didn't get as much work but was the only bright spot in an abysmal showing.

The LB corps looked lost again, much like they did last year, and they had issues with shedding blocks like everyone else.

The secondary didn't force any incompletions, and these are guys that may have to start a game or two because of an injury.

The bottom line is that the depth players looked terrible, and some of those players are what Dallas is banking on to produce for them in this season. One can sit here an argue it's the preseason, but the reality is that this team looks exactly like what some of us expect them to look like with a defense full of no-names.

SOME here (usual pollyanna's) keep on going on about the starters who did not play while CAREFULLY ignoring the FACT that many of the ones that DID play are expected to have significant minutes in rotation this year.

AND THEY SUCKED against the Charger starters.

AND AGAINST CHARGER BACKUPS THEY WERE NOT VERY GOOD.

sounds like a coach telling it like it is. All the things he mentioned from the defense in the SD game were spot on, he knows they have work to do.

He stated the obvious. I guess that is now viewed as a plus.

I would be interested to see if this is how he passes a "message". He clearly was not pleased, but he pointed out what nobody can deny. There was horrible gap integrity and basically nobody aside from Dixon acted like they wanted to show up, play a football game and make a team.

I would prefer more of a stinging emotional commentary, but then again, I do not need a chip to process emotions.

I cannot wait for the Landry comparisons that are forth coming.

An emotional commentary? LOL I guess you need him to put on a show for you. No Landry comparison needed, you want him to act for you, sounds like your problem. Not all HC have to rant and rave like some fans do, they get their message across just fine without acting like idiot

“The discipline wasn’t very good, the gap control wasn’t very good, it wasn’t very physical, we didn’t tackle very well, we didn’t run to the ball well enough, we didn’t make enough plays..."

"...shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich..."

We don't know what we have on defense. Legitimate concerns right now.

That sad thing is, I think we do know what the Cowboys have on defense. And it's not something worth talking about. :)

I have no problem with what Garrett said. He's 100% correct - the defense was awful at every level against San Diego.

Right. We do know what we have. It's just that not everyone's willing to admit it.

They've already decided he's not going to say anything worth listening to.

This must be how he exerts such great control over the media. Bore the hell out of 80% of them so they don't even show up.

Rarely is there any news at news and press conferences. And what passes for news is given out in cliche and nothing the least bit interesting or ground-breaking. Sort of like the pope's easter message. You know there will be nothing new but it is nice to just listen respectfully.

But we all knew this defense was going to be bad again considering injuries and lack of resources used to improve the unit.

You can't know what we have until you see it for awhile. I think the likelihood of being average is not good but we may be much worse or even better.
