No link but Rotoworld reports Garrett took his name out of consideration for the Lions' job.

Clear the decks, I see a storm coming from certain posters...

That doesn't mean he's staying - it means he's not interested in taking over a crap team.

I think he will get a serious look from Denver.

I'm not surprised at all.

I also think its a sign that Jason Garrett is more than what many on this site believe.

I want Garrett here for 2009 and beyond. I think he's part of the solution even if he was a part of the problem in 2008.

Well nobody said he was stupid - I don't want Detroit as part of the United States, much less a job there.

Detroit leads the nation in :

Murders
Poverty
Heart Attacks
Auto Insurance Rates
Stress Level
Slowest Employment Growth
Fewest HS/College graduates
Fattest City in America
Segregation

It is the bunghole of America. People from New Orleans think it is screwed up. That says it all right there...

I want Garrett to stay but I won't blame him if he goes to Denver. That is a plum job with an owner who is very supportive.

Garrett could go there and be moving towards something great rather than just trying to run from a challenge in Dallas.

But I suspect Spags might be the front runner in Denver simply because their defense is such a mess and the guy is a proven commodity on that front.

On the other hand, I'll bet you Garrett gives on eheck of a presentation in HC interviews. He's 2 for 2 on that front so far.

Many on this site believe he's fool's gold. Not me.

I think Denver goes defensive coach also ... and Spags would be my guess.

I think Garrett was horrible this season. He got a ton of credit for the job the offense did last season, everyone was fine with that. This season the offense was pathetic...and he is not at fault? Most penalties for an offense in the NFL, yoohoo, i am very excited for more of this!

Lets hope he can change like the rest of the bozos running the team.

Geesh, I was sure hoping he'd go to Detroit!

:bang2:

He's in a win-win situation over in Detroit.

A 2-14 season would mean success.

If he had a Dolphinesque turnaround, he'd be Coach of the Year.

Just FWIW, Bryan Broaddus was saying on 103.3 the other day that Parcells always used to talk about what a plum job Detroit could be, because he had great respect for the Fords and the way they'd step out of the way and let the coach and GM do their jobs. Plus the franchise has a lot of history, though granted it's getting to be ancient history now.

But Broaddus said Parcells and Ron Wolf would talk about that quite a bit.

And LOL at that last line, Venger. :)

Hallelujah!

I'm happy if this is true.

Ya'll

Don't get happy so quick. There are 9 head coaching jobs out there. And while some of them Garrett's name probably won't come up (San Fran comes to mind). There are other places where I would bet they bring him in and we have not heard anything yet (RAMS, Denver, Jets, even KC once they ax Herm Edwards)

I still think he gets a HC job elsewhere. It's just a matter of numbers. There are a lot of HC jobs and only so many candidates.

So it's not over yet. Make can't that comment until March/April once the jobs are all filled.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if Parcells went to 52troit *nd raided Miami's staff.

Paul Pasqualoni HC for Detroit!

San Fransisco?

Didn't Singletary get that gig?

That's why I said there are places where his name won't even come up . . . The San Fran job is pretty much Singletary's, and Seattle is supposedly going to Jim Mora.

But there are a lot of HC jobs out there, and it would not surprise me if he goes elsewhere.

I don't think he's going anywhere. Jerry gave him $3M last season, and while nothing is probably written I'm sure there was at least a handshake deal that Garret would stick it out here until Wade leaves and take over. There was no reason to give a 2nd year OC that much money if not.

Garret strikes me as the kind of guy who would stick to his word on a deal like that, and I agree with several people who have pointed out that is a big reason Jerry is sticking with Wade.

Never say never, but if I were a betting man I would put my money on Garret calling plays next year in Dallas.

Denver? That would surprise me because they just parted ways with an offensive coordinator as their head coach.

I think Spagnola is going to be the new coach in Denver, I believe Bowlen is in NY today to interview him as well.

For those claiming it was execution, and not Garrett's calls that were to blame, where were the slant routes, and most importantly, where the hell were the QB sneaks on inches to go situations? The only time we ran the QB sneak it was Romo that called it after he waived off the punt unit. The previous three times in that situation Garrett called plays that hadn't been run all year like FB draws and option pitch outs.

Garrett's refusal to establish and stick with any kind of running game was another major issue. His offense is too predictable because it is pass happy, but does not use bread n butter pass routes like the slant and quick outs. Garrett also out smarts himself too much. See the above QB sneak issue above.
